    timing chains replacement

Just found out that all three timing chains on my 2007 srx need replaced, this is a known issue for GM and Cadillac on the V6. For those other owners with a check engine light on code P0008, timing chains related, GM will make this repair at no charge to you, it is what they call a. "special circumstance" .

Lol, your new around here eh.

That may be true for you but not for all SRX owners, depends on the VIN number.

Glad you got yours fixed up.

That extended timing chain warranty was only for select 07 and up based off the vin. Not all of us were lucky. I did mine at 84k and 107k miles then got rid of it.

    Hi Laura!

You had emailed me previously that my VIN was in the affected lot for this known timing chain issue, and that I had an extended warranty for 120k miles. I have 96k on my 09 srx, so this is REALLY making me nervous. I asked the dealer about getting it replaced as mine is in the known lot, and they said not unless it's falling apart on me. I think that sucks, and I am considering joining in the class action lawsuit as a result. It would seem to me that you would want to just make the necessary repair and keep some good will, but I digress.

    Hello whutaboutbob,

The special coverage only applies if you are experiencing the concern. I apologize for any inconvenience this is, but your dealer can only perform this repair if the concern is present with your vehicle. The special coverage acts like an extended warranty and we cannot discuss future possible situations. If you have any further questions, please feel free to send us a private message.

    Regards,

    Laura M.
