    2006 AWD V8 groaning/creaking in right front

I've had this car for 2 years now and I think it's about time to fix the noise. Lack of funds has prevented me from doing so earlier, but money is still tight. I've narrowed it down to the upper or lower control arm or the Mag Strut. I used a cheap mechanics stethoscope to try and narrow it down and it sounds like it's coming from the upper area with the loudest noise being on the shock itself. I know everyone says it's always the lower control arms on these, but the noise really sounds like it's coming from above. I'm thinking about taking it all apart and moving the lower control arm up and down by hand while it's disconnected from the steering knuckle and strut. If that doesn't stop it, then remove the strut assembly and manually move the arms up and down to see what's making noise. That's a lot of work but I don't know of another way to really isolate the noises. Does anyone have any ideas?

It's the strut. Probably leaked all the mag fluid out. Replace.
