Guess what? Timing chains (and cylinder heads)

Well the caddy got 2 codes for intake and exhaust timing, took the car to dealer and sure enough the chains are bad, they would let me know if under warranty. (67,000 miles). It's been a week so I called today and they said the chains are under warranty but the chains damaged the heads! So they have to see if the heads will be covered under warranty? Ummmmm question mark on that? Their faulty design of timing chains damaged the cylinder heads and we have to see if it under warranty even though the chains are? 2007 3.6 awd srx. Trying to convince her to sell it and get a 4 door wrangler, done with gm after this car. I'll post the answer I guess when gm calls back dealership.

We keep several sets of the cylinder heads here (good used with the valves cleaned) for $600 a set if they try to charge you.

I thought the 3.6L V6 was a non-interference engine, meaning that a broken timing chain would not damage the cylinders. Comments anyone?

Well I'm being taken for $1000.00 by the thieves at gm, I guess warranty doesn't mean much any more these days!

From what I'm getting is the chain itself rubbed against the casting

    Should it be warranty?

Like is it part of the timing chain extended coverage?

Not sure if it would be, just a little upsetting that the part that's under extended warranty, damaged another part that's not. That's the fine line I guess.
