Hi All, I am considering purchasing a third party warranty through www.carchex.com (the Platinum plan). Has anyone used them and have an opinion on weather or not it was worth the money? Or has anyone had god luck with another third party provider? Thanks, Chris
Do not get mercury they dont honor their warranties trust me they will back out of 90% of what is actually covered and thwir inspectors dont know anything about cars so they are useless
I'm speaking out of school here, but my experience with third party home warranties is that they are a complete waste of money. I find it hard to believe that third party car warranties would be any better. My two cents.
I have route 66, the bank made me get it when I got the car, and I had a claim already on ignition coils and they paid for the whole bank no questions asked.
I've had the service contract on my ESC pay out more than four times what I paid for it (Enterprise Financial Group, Irving Texas). Fuel sender they paid OK, case-half reseal was the first big battle, but they paid. No problem on a new 4t80e, but a contest later on for tie-rod ends. They paid for a new EBCM, hub and vacuum leak/intake gasket. A lot of this success is because my service advisor at Huber Cadillac was affirmative and diplomatic, quite effective in developing and presenting a case.
I've gotten twice the cost of my Universal Warranty Corp contract paid-out on my SRX. They are better about paying (the contract was sold through the dealer that sold me the used SRX)..thermostat, engine seals, steering rack, right lca, power liftgate replacement, timing chains with tensioners, guides, etc. Again, my service advisor and Huber Cadillac have a spotless reputation and they clearly deliver my case for payment.
So, there are two brief reviews, but don't forget that these are service contracts, an insurance product. They are enforceable as such, so the fine print is important -- you are buying an agreement based on that fine print. Be prepared to enforce it. I have posted in CF and other sites, so do a search and take a look at what others and I have written. Best of luck to you. God bless
Hello, I have a extended warranty with Mercury. Recently, I took my vehicle in for the heated steering wheel, light on radio malfunction and sunroof shade dropping. They paid for 1st two issues but would not cover sunroof shade. Nor do they cover freight charges, disposal of old parts or taxes on rental. Please and disappointed all at the same time. Saved $2600.00 in parts and labor. Not understanding decision for sunroof shade as this is a part of the sunroof assembly.
They've denied most of my repairs or it take multiple dealer trips to get the issue fixed. They said my fan clutch was aftermarket and not covered I explained to him the v92. Tow package came with it and he got rude. Idiots
Stop fighting on their turf -- get your documentation together and complain to public agencies ( Dept of Insurance, Atty General, BBB, FTC, etc). Rude idiots do not do well there. Also, don't forget that a small-claims court action is available as well; make sure your ducks are in a row. Good luck
