General question on a 2005 SRX garage queen.

Out of my knowledge league, but here goes.

A friend is privately selling his personally ordered-waited for-bought-new late 2005 SRX V-8 with just under 50,000 miles. Premium tires/wheels/towing package. Loaded. It's a garage queen (heated) and it has never been wet except for hand washing. The trailer ball has not a scratch on it. He has the dealer provided trade/private/dealer retail sales figures and will significantly lower the private figure for me if I sign a bill of sale and do the MD inspection and registration transfer. I've known about, but no experience with, the car since 2006.5. It's GM dealer maintained with all records from Day 1. (The current owner is a fanatic high-priced historical building restoration designer/architect.)

My STS is a garage queen also - the Ford F-150s are the workhorses. I do 90% of the car and truck maintenance in my shop.

Is the SRX - comfort, driver, performance, style wise - worth a looksee ? V-8 engine problems ?

(Yes, I poked through the sticky ^^^ and a few online reviews - I want feedback from CF drivers !)

Garage Queen, with maintenance history, fussy owner, V8, definitely worth consideration, especially at what maybe a good deal. With that said, I own an 02 SLS with most of the STS features, and my wife has an 08 SRX V6 Sport. The SRX is nice, but to me its not in the same league as my SLS. Don't get me wrong, its great having both, but if I had to choose between them, its the SLS. My wife, on the other hand loves her SRX.

Early srx has the cheaper interior 07 brought a redesign which really upgraded that. Other than that mechanically they are about the same (minus 6 speed later).

Watch out for blown lca bushings lake Cadillac and bad cats (covered for 12 years 200k on all 04-05 LH2s) and the SRX is a pretty stout truck. Sister has an 05 which we've put 60k miles on driving to OBX and Tampa and other than rear air shocks a chmsl heated seat elemnt and horrible oil consumption (v6 issue) the truck has needed nothing but normal maintenance.

My LH2 STS blows away the Seville performance wise (came from an 03 Seville STS). The SRX I can't see being that far off as they are sister vehicles (mechanically).

Thanks - last night Karen said "NO !!! - I like my truck better than Andy's Cadillac !" - so that's that. I keep the STS.

The reason the SRX is for sale - Andy has advancing Parkinson's disease. He went from active businessman to wheeled walker support in less than a year.

Sorry to hear about his Parkinson's. My 52 yo brother in law just had the deep brain probe surgery this month and is waiting to see if it will help his symptoms. It's been sad to see how quickly his physical condition deteriorated. We are hoping for a miracle!

I really don't know, but would bet it was somewhere in the "Excellent" BB private sale area - Andy specifically told the selling dealer that he would sell it himself. It's a nice looking vehicle. White Diamond or a variant thereof ?
