SRX 2009 Questions around bluetooth and remote key lock

I just purchased a 2009 SRX second hand. I understood that it had bluetooth but since purchasing, what it has is Onstar. From what I can find, you can purchase minutes through onstar but you can not pair your device to onstar and use it a bluetooth device without paying additional fees or can you? And if you can't without paying for it, is there a work around so that you can use it for bluetooth without paying?

The remote key entry that we have is not working. Some sites I have found say that I can purchase it and it will include directions for setting it up to the SRX, that model does not have to be reprogrammed. Has anyone done this?

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2008 and programmed both my new remote and the key on board despite many experts telling me it can't be done without the GM scan tool...I did it through the DIC...make sure you get the correct remote as my 2008 is the kind without the extra key in the remote and I understand that there is more than one type of remote...mine is remote 20805406 GM part number...

conedoctor is correct... GM saw fit not to include Bluetooth in the SRX when they revised the platform back in 07'. (Even though, by that time, even Hyundai was including bluetooth in its base models.)

Search in here, there are some discussions of adding bluetooth functionality, by replacing the OnStar module.

2009 did NOT have Bluetooth from the factory, nor can it be updated without using aftermarket components. I too was VERY surprised to find this out. I "assumed" that it would have it but no. GM was still pushing the OnStar phone then but since has seen the light and has abandoned that idea. I refuse to pay the ridiculous amount OnStar wants for the phone minutes. They still must thing it's 1999 or something.

Yep, they will give you that great deal ONE TIME only. After that it's like $40 for 100 minutes.

Re: SRX 2009 Questions around bluetooth and remote key lock

My wife has a 2007 SRX without the factory nav. I bought a Garmin with bluetooth - problem solved! It even reads my S4's contact list and I can dial from the Garmin's touch screen! My 2010 CTS-V has bluetooth and connects to the S4, but it cannot read the contact list. However, you can program 20 numbers into the unit's memory for voice-activated dialing using your cell or OnStar.

    Best regards,

    Elie
