I am trying to track down an issue with my rear washer on my 2005 Cadillac srx. I have read a few posts about this issue. I went out to the car to try and troubleshoot for the problem. I pulled the rubber wire covering off of the top passenger side of the rear hatch with the hatch open (see pic). I discovered what looks to be a hole in one of the hoses found there (see pic). Can anyone tell me what this goes to. There are electrical lines next to this hose. I tried pushing the rear washer fluid button to see if anything came out of this area and nothing happened. Any thoughts on what this hose is, or even if it is a hose?
That is the rubber hose connector between the plastic washer hose coming from the washer bottle and the plastic washer hose in the rear hatch that goes to the nozzle. If you pull gently the plastic end will emerge from the body. Same if you remove other end of accordion cover. Get about 8" of suitable hose from parts store to replace.
Ok, so I got the hose disconnected. I thought I would also try and see if there was any washer fluid coming to the back of the car. I pointed the hose coming from the engine towards the outside and had my wife press the rear washer button, no fluid came through the hose. I did have the rear hatch open, should this matter. In theory I should be having some fluid come to the back, right? The engine was running and the front washer works.
Problem solved. I went to Autozone, spent $4 on a foot of quarter inch hose and put everything back together. It all works now. Now that I know there was a hole in the hose I wonder if this was the case of my lake Cadillac problems. It had to contribute to some of the water.
Hard to say for sure. I ended up just cutting the carpet out so it would dry up. I will keep an eye on it.
