Considering purchase of a 2006 SRX v-6 AWD

    Hello all,

I did at one time own a SLS which I liked very much. I'm considering buying a 2006 SRX. It has some front end damage but most of the repair parts are included in the sale. It has the v-6 AWD 71,000 miles. My concern is clearing all the problem messages on the OBD. The air bags did not deploy. However there's multiple warnings......air bag, coolant, ac compressor, headlights, etc. AC condenser is new and AC works nicley. Coolant is
full and no leaks. Headlights /marker lights are not installed. After some research it looks like it can be expensive to clear / replace modules. The price of the SRX is very reasonable. Any advice would be helpful.

    Best regards,
    Mark

Mark, I do know the "satisfaction" of taking something that is broken, fix it, make it like new and enjoy it.
For this project, if you have a good shop, proper tools and diagnostic equipment, and most of all, mechanical wrench turning ability, I say go for it.
If all you have is a garage, and no equipment, run.
    Just my idea.

Check with your chain parts stores if they will erase the codes. If so, record them first for future reference. It doesn't sound like it but if module(s) have been replaced, a dealer could program all of them in less than 2 hours (maybe $200 shop time).

Depending on the state if it's like Texas it's illegal for a chain store to erase codes.

You could disconnect the battery for a day, then see if that "resets" any of the warnings.

Battery disconnect doesn't work on most newer obd II GM computers especially these.

^ Its not really that bad, I have them both,
modules are expensive, but you can also get one of these $25 readers and erase all the messages yourself and see if they pop up again,
most of cosmetic repairs are easy, the thing you'll need to check is the mechanical parts, specially with front end damage.

    good luck, and post pictures

I have a 2008 SRX4. Sorry I ever bought it. My former esxperience was also with a 2006 STS which I loved. From what I have experienced and learned, the all-wheel drive train is terrible. See my posts from August and September, when I was left stranded on the Inter-state. Spent $3,000 on repairs and it still doesn't feel right.
