Question 2008 SRX Coolant Leak while in Park

I'm the proud owner of an 08 SRX v-6 AWD. As of recent, i have noticed a smell of DexCool while the vehicle is in Park. I, on both occasions, opened the hood and see the Resevoir bubbling, but yet, my temp guage stays the same. There is also a puddle of Dexcool that had been leaking from underneath (more towards the front of the vehicle). I took it (after the first mishap with it in August) to the Cad Dealership (which my SRX is still under the Cert. Pre-owned warranty) and they kept it for five days. They found nothing. At this point, Im thinking I'm losing my marbles. Anyway, about a month later, it happens again. So, now, i dont wana look like the @$$ and call another Cad Dealership and tell them what is happening before I get some feedback. I looked at all the hoses and reservoir and found no leaks in those areas. I'm at a loss, and don't know what else to do. I only have 60k miles on this, and don't think a Cad should be doing this at such low miles...but then again... I could be wrong, just as the first dealership proved me to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I am thinking your heater core is about to pop.

Where is the leak hitting the ground front rear or sides? Check the water pump up front for leaks even small.

the leak is closer to the front of the engine, more towards the radiator fan, but the leak appears to be closer to the bottom of the engine. I can see the coolant on the frame it self under the engine, but can't pinpoint where it is. Like I said before, it doesnt happen often, but when it does I watch that temp guage.

Re: 2008 SRX Coolant Leak while in Park

This is from a friend: Not familiar with Caddys, but there's a couple things that it could be. Your transmission should run through your radiator for cooling. If the transmission is overheating, that could cause
a leak (pressure build up in the coolant), and you might not get any indication on your temp gauge. Or it could be a bad seal on the transmission cooler itself. Just a thought. I'm definitely not a professional!

I'm not sure if the AC plays into it, but it could be that it was just hot outside. The added stress of the hot day, plus whatever is raising the temp of the coolant will raise the pressure causing the leak. I'd make sure they do a pressure test on your cooling system, and at least check the color of your transmission fluid. If you have an issue, there's a good chance your transmission fluid will be black.

The vehicle is at the dealership. Just gotta wait and see if they find anything.....

Don't these trucks have a separate tranny cooler not attached to the radiator so no mixing like traditional cars.

I have no clue. I am hoping this dealership finds something.
