Thread: Driver Side HID lamp keeps cutting on and off. HELP!

    Driver Side HID lamp keeps cutting on and off. HELP!

    2007 SRX with 83K on the odometer and I bought the car used. (second owner) I have a driver side low beam HID that keeps cutting on and off intermittently. The passenger side stays on; I also have high beams that turn on sometimes when I use the right turn signal switch. Are these two issues related? Could it just be the multifunction switch?

    Could be the ballast going out or the connection? My 300C did this and it was a bad ballast

    Mine did that when the bulb was bad. Either way, you can switch the bulbs to see if the issue moves or stays on the same side. That will tell you whether or not it is a bulb or a ballast. If you need to replace the bulb, do it in pairs since the shade of a new bulb will be quite different from the old. You can find bulbs for about $75 per pair. Dealer will charge about $600 to do the replacements.

    Sounds like 2 problems, low beam and a bad switch, or clumsy thumb.
