Re: Pitting On Wheels

well if i understood correctly, when i clean my rims, i got the 18s, i feel as if it has corroded but it hasent, the break dust, and dirt gets deposited, you just need to rub hard and use a real good rim cleaner....but yeah it looks and feels like corrosion..

Re: Pitting On Wheels

Get a bottle of Mothers wheel cleaner in the YELLOW bottle. Spray on and hose off. It is remarkable. Best I've found so far. I even spray it through the openings to the back of the rims. When hosed off, you can see the full width of these wheels. NICE detail.

If needed, a little wheel polish will make quick work of any left over residue. If wheels are kept waxed, then the cleaning is much easier. For cleaning and wax I use the Treatment cleaner and wax. I am very fond of these two products.

While I am at it:
Wax - The Treatment (tube)
Cleaner - The Treatment
Polish - Mequires #2
Wheels - Mothers (yellow bottle)
Windows - Vinegar and water w/ a clean lint free towel
Car wash - Eagle 1 (big red gallon)
Dry towel - micro fibre
Detail towel - soft cotton

Re: Pitting On Wheels

nstar & wbfsrx:

Your going to LOVE this! Just got a look at the tsb and it said the pitting was caused by road chemicals such as those to hold down dust. Also said the pitting would be worse on the leading edge of the wheel spokes due to forward rotation. Not covered by warranty. Reminds me of the B1B stealt bomber not flyable in the rain because the resins used to build the planes skin was water based and disolved in the rain!
So, the B1B wasn't allowed to fly in wet weather and it seems the SRX wheels shouldn't touch the road.
