    Exclamation bahahaha!!!!!

I have a 2004 SRX, v8 AWD. I've had it to the dealership so many times at this point that I've lost count. I think they've worked on finding my coolant leak four times (at least) and still can't seem to find it. Tonight I was working on a mini tune-up (spark plugs, oil change, MAF cleaning). When I removed the elbow going into the throttlebody I found my coolant leak! I must have hit the tee along the top of the radiator. When I went to replace the elbow, there was coolant running down the fan and dripping onto my driveway; had a large puddle by this time.

Anyway, I was excited I finally found the stupid leak and thought I'd share. I'll be replacing the tee tomorrow.

Good to know. You would think a stealer could trace the coolant lines!

I've dealt with that tee breaking on these engines so much its ridiculous. I went ahead and upgraded mine to an aftermarket tee with hose clamps as it will break again. Luckily mine didn't break but just in case I used a metal tee from the hardware store. Just like the failed crappy plastic elbow design on the gm 3.8 engine which finally parts stores sell the metal replacement. 18 years too late lol. Go to the the hardware store get the tee and hose clamps from a parts store cut that old tee off and replace. Cause I think that entire hose is very expensive.

Yep, me too. Is it a 1/2"? I'm at work and not in front of the car today.

Not sure; i assume you mean ID, its the same hose from the overflow tank, look more like 1/4" or smaller ID guessing.

I used 1/4" its just the right size. It looks bigger cause of the plastic ends around the tee

To my knowledge you are the first user to report this problem, so it will likely be a rare issue.

I used a 1/2". I went to the hardware store and wanted 3/8" but they were out. Worked out fine.

I found the brass tee idea/fix on here...I think the original post was from '09. The plastic tee was so brittle it broke on all three ends and I ended up cutting the coolant lines. But it's fine now.

Not too many diy do this particular repair and just have a shop replace that entire hose.
I've done at least 6 on the CTS when I was working at a parts store right in the parking lot. Not too many on the srx I'm assuming due to the amount of space in the bay vs the CTS.
