I'm getting an intermittent Passenger Airbag Off message when passengers are sitting in the front seat...from what the manual says, this means they have no airbag protection so...is this something I can easily fix myself or better to take it to a dealer or repair shop...also...does anyone know if this is still covered under any warranty...?
Could be the sensor under the seat going out/loose connection. try a reboot, unhook the battery, wait a few minutes, you can try also to touch your + and - cables together unhooked from the battery of course. This is suppose to relearn your modules. it could be fixed but you need a manual. Do a search on here, others have talked about his
Orandaberg...thanks...I hadn't found a thread about my specific issue but your post gave me food for thought...I found a thread on the interwebz that provided the following for the CTS and I modified for our SRXs:
Key in ignition, turn ignition to ON but not START
Under hood there is a Fuse Block, remove cover and then remove Fuse for AIRBAG
Go back to interior and turn ignition to OFF and remove key
Replace AIRBAG Fuse
Replace Fuse Block lid and close Hood/Bonnet
Go back to interior again and insert key and start the engine...the AIRBAG should re-set
So far, this seems to be working...I will keep an eye on it and report back from time to time or if there is any change.
Did you get a message " service air bags" or something in those lines.
Had this issue myself, did the resets, worked for awhile until got this message, the sensor under pass. Side went. Covered under warranty
I seem to be freed of this issue except if I use Auto-Start with no one in the passenger seat (obviously )...then it remains that the passenger air bag is off if someone gets into the passenger seat (sometimes)...I still need to check the connectors desmar suggested...
this car had the carpets shampooed before my purchase and it's possible something was jostled or bumped during the cleaning...
has anyone actually done this???...disconnected the connections under the passenger seat???...will I activate an airbag if I try this???...does anyone know which connector it is for the airbag, seat sensor???...there appear to be three underneath the passenger seat...two are larger and appear gray and one is smaller and yellow (would be my guess)???any help is appreciated...
...they all appear connected and look fine...if safe I may try to disconnect and spritz with contact cleaner and lube but I'd sure like to not muck anything up...especially if I can get this serviced under my warranty...but if it is safe and as easy as disconnect, clean, lube and reconnect...I'd give it a go....:P
If you want to clean the yellow connector (SIR related), disconnect battery neg. cable for 10 min. before starting work. You may have a failing seat sensor pad causing the intermittent light. The Solstice forum has a 10 page thread about failure. If your warranty covers, let them do it.
