    Fuel Pump Relay Failure

A while back our recently waxed SRX had gathered a lot of dust.It was raining so I decided to back it out of the carport to let nature give it a good spot free rinsing. It wouldn't start, cranked strong, but wouldn't start.I raised the hood and looked around at nothing in particular while considering whether to call a private wrecker service to tow it in or just call the dealership to come pick it up.
Then I had an epiphany. And realized that it had to be either fuel or fire related as the car ran perfectly the last time out.I pulled the fuse box cover and looked for anything labeled 'ignition' or 'fuel'. The first thing I saw was the "fuel pump relay" located in a row of 6 or 8 identical relays.I switched it with one labeled "accessories". It started right up.My local Cadillac dealer didn't have one in stock.Their computers were down on account of a lightening strike. The next day they did a locater search and none of the local GM dealers had one,the nearest was 600 miles away in Jacksonville,Fl where 70 were in stock. The relay only costs $12,and are fairly common.Seems odd that dealerships don't keep at least one in stock.

What's it look like I usually find random relays at Autozone although they aren't listed in the system we checked each box. I'll look at my truck in the morning and locate an alternate part number.

Sorry took so long. If you are talking about the small relay with 4 skinny prongs take it to any parts store and they can get you one. It doesn't have to be based on the numbers on the relay they 4 prong is very common hell I have almost a dozen of those as spares. No need to pay dealer price.
