    Intermittent No Start Condition

I am having an intermittent no start condition with my 2008 SRX. The fuel pump comes on when it wants to. Checked all the fuses and relays. Everything led to faulty fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump and truck started. Ran for about a week and no start condition returned. One dealership said it was faulty camshaft sensor. Didn't say which one. Vehicle has 4 sensors. Replaced all four and after a few days no start condition came back again. Had vehicle towed to another GM dealership who said it could be faulty fuel pump or bad wiring to fuel pump. Cost to repair $1200. When asked if it happens again and I have spent $1200 will they give a refund. The would only say the pump is under warranty. So I decided not to give them $1200 on a guest.

Has anyone experienced this same intermittent no start condition where the fuel pump works sometimes? Also, the only key that I have is the one that come with the vehicle. Cant locate the other one. Is it possible the vehicle is not reading the key any longer and a new key is needed? I have seen cases where the vehicle does not recognize the key. Does this vehicle have the same feature? Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Intermittent No Start Condition

It sounds like you asked a couple of dealers for their best guess of what could cause your problem without letting them go through the diagnostic procedures to determine what really is wrong. To begin with you need to know what DTC's you have as a result of the no start condition.

    Re: Intermittent No Start Condition

I believe there is a TSB for later SRX 's (2007 or so) for the shifter cable or shifter not knowing it's in park. When you shift from P to D, to the doorlocks lock/unlock? I thought this was a good way to test this.

Is your car turning over? If yes, I would change the crank sensor next (it's cheap and relatively easy to replace).

If your engine isn't turning over... I had a similar problem on 2004 V6. Seems like there is not a common fix... but I have a list of the most common issues I was able to find researching these forums...
