I am living in France too, and I just got my 2006 SRX few days ago.
I noticed very quicky that the front DVD doesn't work correctly on the back screen, and that it was not possible to modify GPS while driving.
But I have not test everything yet...
I ask my dealer for that, but no solution for the moment...
I am very interested in any solutions and I am ok to join or discuss with any French or europeen owner... |

Manufactured around mid-2005. I appear to get traffic information but I am not sure if it is through the station's data feed. The messages that I get are just the A/N road and the road marker (I would call it a milepost back home but you are metric here). I am certain that I have seen the TMC indicator light on the (small) top left corner where the messages scroll by.
The DVD issue is not an issue for us as most of our stuff is in Region 1. Taking the SRX to the local dealer in Den Haag soon to install our NL plates and resolve a tire issue. At the time, I am also going to try out the Europe NAVI disk and hope that it is not region coded.
Let me know if someone wants me to try something. Cheers! |

This is totally different with what we are calling INFOTRAFFIC, wich shows you on screen all traffic dangers, and calculates alone the best road for you.
For the DVD player, (I have posted this in another thread), you can change the region in TV menu, and then, if you have an external dvd player, you'll see that it can be seen in Pal AND in NTSC... totally amazing ! |

No navigation available here down south, and the rear DVD player will only play some DVD's. Front player will play nothing (just a "rolling" screen with sound). It will not recognize the European Navigation DVD, which is useless in Greece anyway. Have an appointment with service tomorrow to "set" front player to European specs. Hope it works..... |

My tire issue was a broken valve caused by me at a local service station's air pump. After 80 Euros labor and 65 Euros parts (and a three week wait for the part), I learned my lesson on service station compressors and bought a auto compressor with a 12V adapter for a lot less (that will also work nicely on my bicycle).
I am still waiting on the Navi-DVD issue. When I asked if they had a Navi-DVD to test, they said "no, you have to order one". When I suggested that they borrow one from a showroom dealer/test-drive cars, I got a blank stare. When I asked if the Navi-DVD will work if I order it, I got "well, we are 80% sure that it will". So what the hey - I take the gamble and order the Navi-DVD. Guess what I get? The Canadian Navi-Disk! "That's not going to help me much around here", I says. "You're right", they say, "we will order you a new one". We shall see what happens, but, I think I caught a posting by Krug300 that said it won't work.
More to come ... |

just like you, my US spec. car will not recognize the European navi. DVD, it will play Region 1 DVD's in the front player and 1 and most region 2 DVD's on the rear player. After 2 visits at the local Caddy dealer and "hands up".
I can send you the European navi.DVD so you can try if it works. |

The short story is good news - it works! The europe map disk finally came to the local dealer and I scheduled an appointment. The service technician said that they did an update/adjustment to the navi computer and it works as promised. I am not sure if GM introduced a new system in 05 (versus the 04 SRX) or if they just just finally got around to implementing a firmware update for the existing equipment. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it, so I can't see if the TMC issue has been resolved as well. Best opportunity will come during the summer when we intend to take a tour of the Scandanavian countries.
I did not see version numbers on/in the literature for the Europe disc, but, let me know if anyone wants me to lookup details. The Certificate of Origin for my SRX was dated Feb 2005, so I presume the car was manufactured close to that date. |

I have a new navigation disc for my -02 STS. The navigation system is the same as in the SRX (at least the older ones) I'm in desperate need of the firmware update which I believe is done from a CD.
Perhaps you would be so kind to check with your dealer about how the update was done? If it was done with an update CD I would very much like to have the part. no. for it! |
