    Transmission fluid indicator on DIC...

...is staying at 81%. The last time the transmission was serviced was about 3 years/35-40,000 miles ago. Maybe 50,000. I'm not sure. I didn't take it to have the service done. The barely human who used to drive it had it serviced at the dealer. My oil life indicator works as it should. The trans indicator hasn't changed in a looooong time. Problem?

Ours is at 46%. When is it considered prudent to get the transmission flushed and the fluid changed? When it reaches 0?

Recommend at 100k but as a mechanic waiting that long would possibly cause damage if you do flush it cause all the metal particles willbgo shooting through the trans and cause issues down the road. I go by the old school of every 60k miles

Changed mine at 70000. Dealer said they found that waiting to 100000 proved to be too long.

repnatl, as a mechanic then, do you recommend a flush? If you are saying that you think a flush could damage the transmission? Maybe just a drain fluid and refill? How is the transmission fluid life system reset?

That's just what I've heard when i was working in several shops personally I've never done a flush on my own vehicles just a drain and fill and I've never had any long term issues but doing that means that on average 4 qts or more of old fluid will still be in the torque converter. You should be fine just most shops won't do a flush on higher mileage vehicles for that risk factor. Its reset the same way the olm is within the dic menu.
