How hard is this? I have two problems with it: there has been just enough vibration at speed to make it impossible to know what you are looking at. Just the mirror though, the housing seems fine. Now recently there has been a brown haze developing on it. Starting from the outside in. Not sure what that's about but it seems like a replacement is in order.... ?
Lower Window...
Ensure door is "unlocked"...
Remove Door Lock Plunger surround...
Remove Upper Trim Benzel and Retainer(s) ...
Remove access covers by handle, then screws (2)...
Remove Speaker Grill and Speaker...
Remove Door Panel - clips, then lift.
You can now access the mirror mounts...
Disconnect electrical harness to mirror...
Remove 3 screws holding mirror.
Remove Mirror - route harness through hole.
May not need to do all that door panel removing stuff if you can get a replacement glass and pop the bad glass off - Tilt mirror all the way down and 'carefully' pry old glass off. or have someone experienced with the technique do it!
That password provided for the SM.GPONA website is not working anymore. Wonder if that account got deleted. Anyway, my dad's 2004 SRX is experiencing the hazing over the driver's side mirror. it old him I'd fix it (I was looking for replacement assemblies) but if you can indeed just replace the glass part, that would be 1000x better for me (and cheaper).
Since I don't have the SM, I'm having a hard time figuring this out.
Any luck? I'm trying to replace the GLASS ONLY on the driver's mirror as well. Got the "brown haze of doom" creeping down so now I can't see much of anything.
Hi. Did you get the vibration fixed?
I have same problem on my passenger side.
It looks like there are some clips missing.
Anyone knows how to fix it?
Thanks
I just did this on my own. It's somewhat of a pain, but can be done in less than an hour. I have photos and can give you detailed instruction. I'm too busy to upload a guide now, but feel free to PM me if you want info. This is for install of the GLASS only, not the housing.
Must not be that complicated to take off because a thief stole my driver side mirror one night and it seems it was removed "surgically" as nothing looks broken. The thief did a very clean job.
