    Just purchased 07 SRX V8

    Hey everyone,

We just purchased a black 07 SRX V8 yesterday from a ford dealer in Indiana. It was a two and a half hour drive home and I loved every minute of it!

There are a couple minor issues one being the ultraview sunroof shade bunches up when it gets close to the rear of the opening. I see there are two tracks that guide it along. Could something being obstructing the track movement or does it just need lubed? And, what type of lubricant is recommended for the shade and ultraview?

Another movement problem with the power third row seat. It makes a creaking, groaning noise as it comes up which I assume is not normal. At what points should the third row seat be lubed for proper operation?

One of the TPMS sensors has lost communication with the computer. Will the reset procedure described in the manual re-enroll it?

I haven't checked out the rear jack compartment yet for lake Cadillac, but I will do that today.

I also noticed a small oil leak on the oil pan area, but it isn't enough to be dripping on the ground yet. I have a lot of experience with the old FWD N*, but I was not sure of the common leak points on this one.

Any other tips and tricks people wish to share would be much appreciated! I haven't figured out yet which key and fob are driver 1 and 2 since the fobs aren't labeled like on my CTS, and the car doesn't indicate which driver is driving when you start the car.

The oil leak clean it of and check to make sure it isn't the timing covers seals first. At least you don't have to pull the transmission for the oil pan gasket like the old n*. The panoramic sunroof was plagued with problems its one of the options you wanted to avoid.

Your car is 5-6 yrs old so its time for TPMS replacement. You can take it to specialized tire shops or even GM and ask them to tell you how much battery they have left in them. Most likely they are all about the same and will require replacement.

Thank you. I fixed the sun shade, one side of the bars that slide along the track were out of the track. I think I will just by four new TPMS sensors and have a tire place put them on. I peeked at the oil pan and saw it was lightly coated in oil, with the heaviest amount towards the rear. I will clean it off and see what returns.

    Thanks for the help!

Congratulations on your new acquisition, ternstes. Black is stunning!!! And the Northstar makes the drive a lot of fun.

The UltraView was a "must-have" when I was looking for my SRX.....and I use mine every day, weather permitting. It's the closest thing to an "open air" car you can get on a fixed roof vehicle. Even for the rear passengers. Figure 300 days per year of use, even if it is to open a few inches during Winter. Keeps the car aired out and smelling new(er). It is covered under the warranty extension and does require periodic DIY track cleaning and lubrication with some attention to cleaning and treating the weatherstripping to keep it soft and maleable for a tight seal.

I had the rear guides replaced once (5 months ago) when the dealership was working on the stuttering on express close. Was told the rear guides also caused the sunshade retraction issue I had, also fixed during the same visit.

Another time a "relearn" procedure took care of a slight wind noise up front when the roof was not quite sealing tightly enough.

    Congratualtions, ternstes!
Have you tried the re-learn procedure for the tire pressure monitoring system yet? Let us know if it works!

I tried the relearn procedure, but it did not work. I bought 4 new sensors and am going to have them installed as soon as they arrive.

The 3rd row seat on my 07 chattered when operated. Vehicle was still under warranty. The dealer replaced the 3rd row seat adjuster with p/n 88898384. However there was another person on the forum who lubed the tracks and I seem to recall it fixed the problem. You might search the forum, it was several months ago.

Since you already bought the TPM sensor this is moot but for future reference Discount Tire (or probably any major tire shop) generally can reset the system. They have to after a routine tire rotation. I see there's a couple stores listed north of Cincinnati and a bunch in the Columbus area. Also there was a posting a few months ago where the owner felt Discount's price was very competitive.... something around $180 for the set installed.
