Electrical issues in right driver's side door.

    Hi!

I have had my 2006 SRX in the shop multiple times. The electrical panel in the driver's door is malfunctioning. It changes to a default setting that locks my doors, my windows don't work, the radio settings change, and anything that is operated electrically from the driver's side does not work. The passenger's side does not appear to be affected. I took it in several times and they "couldn't find anything wrong." It would not happen for them. Finally I drove over while it was doing it. They replaced some wires and a master switch, it lasted a year, and then started doing it again. Of course, I am not in warranty anymore, and even though they obviously did not have a solid fix last time, they will not honor it. I am now paying to have a service shop in town look at it. If I hit the door when it is happening, it sometimes changes back to my user settings. I am so frustrated. I will never buy a Cadillac again. I have had nothing but issues and the service at the place I bought it has been questionable. I love the car and love driving it, but I'm sick to death of all the issues which include the service department fixing a recall on the back end and not tightening the screws (if we had been on an expressway when the back end dropped, we'd be dead); light bulbs taking 2 hours to change, oil burning, etc.

    Anyone else having these issues?

Well, you finally found what may be the most helpful forum on the net. Your many issues are not untypical but they are all solvable. If you or hubby are even moderately capable of DIY automotive work, most issues can be corrected at somewhat reasonable cost and you get the pleasure of trying to think of why in the world some of these things were done the way they were, and to find an easier (relative) way to effect the repair.

So, what do you think your capabilities are? We're ready to help.

    Hey SL,

As I don't have an SRX I believe the insides if it and my CTS are fairly similar with that said. I happened to find this information I am about to share with you when I was trying to install auto start on my car.

I found out that there is a connector between the door and the side body frame that connects the wires from the door to the fuse box and wiring within the car cabin. The connector is covered up with rubber boots. You have to remove the side kick panel and maybe even the door panel to have access to it.

I would check that connector and see if its actually pushed and locked in place. Or maybe one of the pins is making momentary connections.

Was this car wrecked? I ask because if the door panel was removed and replaced with a new or used one they may not have properly seated it.

    Good luck.

WOW!!! My 2006 Cadillac SRX is having the same issue. Dea,ler states nothing they can do since they are unable to duplicate the issue. I video taped this happening to me and took it in. They stated to have replaced wha tthey belived to be theissue that was common to that problem. Well the following day it was happening again. I have had several issues with this vehicle as well and the dealer I bought it from. They were suppose to call me to rectify this issue and are yet to call (3 weeks) it happened to me yesterday while driving and the radio goes to home settings and my chair actually moved!!! I totally freaked out as I was driving and im only 5'4 which means I have to move my chair up in order to reach the peddle and the cahir moved back and then when it reset again went back to the position i set it too. This is a major concern as I have a child in the car and thought I was going to crash.. No mre Caddy's for me!

If you are hitting the door and it works you have some loose/faulty connections on your main switch. You will have to remove your door panel. Is someone a good diy. You will need to also use a voltmeter. Just because its a Cadillac stealer does not mean they have certifed mechanics for GM. Now adays most use forums to look up advice.

Re: Electrical issues in right driver's side door.

I had some similar but different issues. Slowly my passenger door stopped working... first the windown didn't work at times... then it finally stopped working... then the passenger door had no power... and then I had a major drain on my battery.

The fix was replacing the passenger door module. I bought a used one on ebay. You can get these for $30 $40 on ebay. You can use a CTS module as they are the same (I think mine was from a CTS-V). It fixed all my issues, but when I hit the driver 1 and 2 settings, the mirror doesn't know where to go and moves around randomly. This can be fixed if you have the door module reprogrammed ($100), but it's good enough for me. If you buy a new part at GM dealership, it won't work at all because it's not programmed. So getting a used one that is programmed will work... and if you get one from an SRX it might work perfect?

You have to remove the door panel, but it's rather easy to replace. It might be worth trying for a few bucks.
