Tunes are great but I would be careful of the exercise I put it to. From what I have been able to learn, the transmission, differential and transfer case are all at the limit of their design capabilities re. HP and vehicle weight. I suspect Caddy engineers were thinking of a more sedate clientele than actually bought the cars when they chose components.

As long as abuse management is still in place I would think all will be ok, for me it has anyway. The TCM tune for me just woke up the car and now it does what I want it to, the ECM tune made it feel like my 04 did.

The transmission should be OK IMO based on the STS-V numbers, so me bumping power by 10-15% should be ok, that being said I am not one of the Duramax guys who chip the crap out of the truck then blame GM when it fails at double the power levels while towing

I drive it nice and don't abuse, when I tow I will not roll into the throttle like crazy.

Mine already is an 04, what's the difference? Other than the 6spd?

Well depends on if your 04 has had the flash or not, you would have to get a history from the dealer to see if it has had the reprogram to combat driveline lash.

Not sure if you end up with less power but it feels a bit lazy, I had a preflash 04 and it was fast, my 09 did not have the same snap until I had the tune.

I have a list of all warranty work up until last year when it ran out. I'll double check for that flash. I love my SRX, I've never driven another one though. Sometimes the trans feels a bit lazy though. Like a have to give it a bit of gas before it will start rolling. Most cars I've had, the brakes actually hold it back from rolling off the line.

It would have nothing to do with moving from a stop, hard to explain.

I was just thinking aloud about how my transmission acts. Yesterday I started her up and backed right out. I stopped, but it in drive and it reved to over 1500 before slowly pulling away.

That sounds like a pump issue or low on fluid.
