    2006 srx battery change

I have a 2006 SRX v6. I've been reading that the 78 series battery will work just fine instead of the 101 series. Anyone have good luck with the 78 in their srx??

This is what I did, and it fitted just fine in the blanket. No hassle.

When I took mine (2006) to the dealer for a coolant and tranny flush they were amazed I still had the original battery. I could tell it getting sluggish. I had them change it.

One thing you can do, ctzl, is check the Battery Voltage under the Vehicle Information Menu. To access this menu, press the up or down arrow on
the INFO switch located to the right of the display with the ignition ON. Select "BATTERY VOLTS" and the current battery voltage is displayed. If the voltage is in the normal range, the display will have OK after it. For example, the display may read 13.2 BATTERY VOLTS OK. If there is a problem with the battery charging system, there are four possible DIC messages that may be displayed (see DIC Warnings and Messages on
    page 3-57 for more information).

    Hope this is helpful!

Go with the high buck battery- you'll have problems otherwise. SKIN

I have to disagree.. I haven't read of any problems related to a series 78 battery in these cars... if you could give examples?

I have had a series 78 battery from Costco- Kirkland signature (made by Johnson Controls) battery for about 1.5 years with no problems. It has a higher CCA which is great for us cold weather states and everything else is the same. The only thing I had to do was underneath the cowl is this insignificant plastic tab that I trimmed off... battery fit like a glove.

Your big box stores have a reasonably priced battery that will work just fine. Don't get talked into a high dollar battery. You should be able to get their best battery for well under $100. Just take the measurements of your battery in and compare sizes. If they want to charge you for installing it, do it yourself.

In my climate (hot) and lots of stop-and-start driving, the original series 101 batteries did not last. I converted to a series 78 from Costco after the original warranty expired, and it keeps going and going........... The original battery was a big mistake on GM's part; its specs and price are rediculous!

Our original delco 101 battery just went on the 06. Went with the 78-dlg duralast gold from AZ and it fitted perfectly. Didn't even have to remove the handle and managed to slip the insulator back on to make it look just like stock. The 800cca is also a nice upgrade from the 650cca and of course price. Just a fyi for anyone looking for an alternative solution.
