'04 SRX V6 no start issue...

This morning the wife goes out to start her SRX, hears a "bang", and no start.
When it tries to start, it will run on what sounds like 2 cylinders.
Has good battery voltage, all fuses check good.

    Ideas?

Check the oil, it may be very low of out causing the timing chain to be unhappy.

Oil level seems ok, half-way up the hash marks. But from the sound she described, it could have been a chain slip or break.

Broken or misaligned timing chain/sprockets or guide? Just a guess here, but if half your engine runs the other side may have a broken chain or one that somehow came off. If so, your dash should light up like a Christmas tree with alerts. Let us know what they find.

It won't run. I'm going to have to tear in to it myself.
Many thanks to the guys on here who have tackled the timing chain issue and posted the step-by-step instructions.
I wish I could afford to take it to a dealer.

Ok well lets figure this out.

Does it turn over with the starter?
Pull the valve covers and see if the cams/valves are moving.
Can you do a compression test?
Hook up air to the cylinders and see if the air is going to the intake or to the exhaust.

It turns over with the starter. I've got a mechanic looking at it friday. He can pull the codes and get a
real good idea where the problem lies.

My other car is a Land Cruiser. 1 cam, gear driven, OBDI, but it gets me there.
