Time line 1-year ago - My 2006 SRX AWD -106145 mi. starts making a wheel bearing noise . I can tell it's the right front, on the expressway at speed in a left turn = noise Right turn = quiet . So I order a new wheel hub bearing assembly from Detroit Axle or Dearborn Axle ( take your pick ) . I replace the right bearing and all's good with the world . Then about October 2011 I start to hear a bearing noise again but this time I can not tell where it's coming from . Well it must be the left front finaly went bad so I order another new bearing from D A and install it . No luck the bearing noise is still there . So now is it the Trans , engine ? I drive it for a month and still can not tell where the noise is coming from . So I decide what the heck I'll try the original left bearing I just replaced in the right side . That 's it ! Now quiet again . So the first bearing lasted less than one year and 10,000 mi . Detroit Axle to send me a replacement one ! I asked if they had any other broblems with this bearing ? NO Any body else use bearings from Detroit Axle ?

Pinhauler.........I had similar highway symptoms, a rythmic front end humming on the gradual left sweepers. Noise mostly disappeared when the road straightened, fully disappeared/totally silent on the right hand sweepers. But it wound up being a front end alignment issue, accompanied by telltale tire wear. For me, the noise wasn't the bearings as I had thought.

It was time for new tires (with alignment) anyway. But the noise is gonzo......at least for the past 2,000 miles!
