I have talked to a person at Denson and its a software not firmware change and its not even programed into the new software, It was for the bench testers to be able to open the dvd door to change roms. and was never removed from the code, when they found out about 1791 they did a way with it in the newer navi systems
One ray of home my XLR has 1791 but not for SRX
THERE HAS TO BE A WAY AROUND THIS!
I am at the point were I might start testing wires to fool out the Navi to think it is in park so DVD can be played.
If anyone has more info it would be great!

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic | | | | | Re: Looking For DENSO CODES 2005 Newer Vin!!!! What is the BIG deal with the 1791 code anyhow? First, it is illegal in most states to use this override. Second, IMO, it's not that useful or interesting anyhow.
As already discussed in the two threads mentioned above, the holy grail of override codes for most of us are: (1) remove disclaimer and (2) override "safety" feature that disables nav system while vehicle is moving. If anyone get either of these, forum users are actually offering CASH rewards.
Again, please post nav system codes comments to one of the other two active threads! Thanks. |

Heck i think im a kick ass driver.and i can talk, watch, and listen while i drive..furthermore, u dont know me, let me rephrase, you dont know anything about me. just to make my point straighter i live in switzerland, they got no laws banning the latter. and finally, most readers and i dont give a rats ass if you think its cool or not. so next time, please, if you feel differently or just dont give a damn about the thread topic dont post or reply (if u do expect another harsh reply like this one) and btw, i and the many other members can make a new thread when ever we want.
take care "turnip" and dont blush youll get red "er"!!!
P.S. U DONT OWN THIS FUDGIN WEBSITE, YOU OWN A CADDY!

It is entirely your prerogative to seek new override codes and, if watching a DVD while driving is important to you, I did not mean to tell you what your priorities should be. However, my main point is that the seeking of new override codes (including YOURS to watch DVDs while driving) is ALREADY being discussed and pursued other threads! So what I am saying, our personal preferences and priorities aside, why don't we discuss this stuff in the SAME thread that is already working to find these codes? For example, did you KNOW that some people already proposed and tried systematically to find new blocks of codes? Did you KNOW that some forum users are offering CASH for new override codes? Perhaps if it is so important to you, you could participate too? It really doesn't matter WHICH code they are trying to find, but I was trying to help you by pointing out that YOUR interests are best served posting in the other threads! |

I hate to pull the radio Navi and start checking Voltage at the wires to see or find the one that tells the RADIO Navi its in gear, ( that part is done at the trans NOT THE SHifter ( tried that allready ). Hope fully it a easy One wire and not a network communication from ECM PCM to radio?
Still working on it |

Still working on it | Please read my posts above. I believe it was already determined that the safety features are tied to vehicle movement (detected through the GPS) and is not something simple like being linked to the transmission gear. To repeat, if you do a search or look at the other two threads mentioned above, these issues have already been discussed. In fact, someone has already completely disassembled the nav system and posted detailed pictures! |

I'm happy I can take advantage of this as it HAS come in handy. Mostly we leave the NAV DVD in there and look at the map but on a long trip it is nice to allow the passenger to watch the movie along with the kids in the back seat, especially since we usually listen to it through the radio. This is definately tied to movement and not PARK---similar to how the NAV lock-out occurs while in motion. |

Toyota also uses a NAV system made by Denso, and interrupting the VSS signal allows the DVD to function while the car is moving. http://www.rocoto.com/siennamods/dvd_mod.html has the details on how it is done on a Sienna.
Does the NAV screen on the SRX have softkeys available to control the DVD player?

Eric | It may be linked to either or both the GPS and the VSS--I just know that it has nothing to do with the transmission. Again, this was discussed in considerable detail (by people far more knowledgeable than I) in the two main Nav system threads.
As for your softkey question, are your referring to how people control the DVD when inserted in the front Nav system display? When you have the RSE, the DVD is inserted there and I use its remote control. I'm not sure what people with only the Nav system do because I've never tried it any other way. I'm pretty sure this stuff is also covered in other threads.
I suggest doing a search for all this information.
