As for your softkey question, are your referring to how people control the DVD when inserted in the front Nav system display? When you have the RSE, the DVD is inserted there and I use its remote control. I'm not sure what people with only the Nav system do because I've never tried it any other way. I'm pretty sure this stuff is also covered in other threads.
I suggest doing a search for all this information. | I guess I'm not hitting the right threads and/or search terms. I've done a few searchs and I've seen a lot of speculation about what keeps it from working, but no definitive answers. The Toyota Densos just require opening the VSS connection and grounding the parking brake wire to make the DVD player work while in motion. Playing around with the same wires on SRXs might prove fruitful. Interestingly, the Toyotas don't have the equivalent "music key" to allow input of codes.
What I meant by the soft keys are that on the Toyota NAV unit, if you have a factory DVD player, you can call up buttons on the NAV screen while a DVD is playing that allow you to control the DVD player from the NAV screen. Much more convienent than reaching back to try to use the buttons on the player or leaning back with the remote. |

P.S. if any thread is getting off hand the M O D E R A T O R has the first say and opinion.

It's amazing how far some will go to advance their own agenda and not respect other opinions that don't match thier own preconceived notions or expectations. Your point about the Moderator controlling the threads, and not any self important twirps, is more valid than most of what some have said here. Good on you! |

I did notice when I tried it, that the system made no acknowledgement of a successful diagnostic code being entered. Simply, when I drove off, the dvd kept playing. |

P.S. U DONT OWN THIS FUDGIN WEBSITE, YOU OWN A CADDY! | Hi friend!
Just want to say ,it's your car and you do what you like. But excessive new threads divide and conquer all our desires to get new data....yours and mine. We all prosper if ground rules are attempted to be followed. That's all! This is the premeir forum and I know you can benefit from it as we all do.
As for your DVD code I respectfully and honestly urge you to encourage others who live in places with traffic up our jackasses to use these codes wisely! Damn the tickets you'll get in my state(NY) but we've had a fatallity linked to driving and watchimg a video here! It seems when an entertaining scene is shown to the human brain, the "time clock" disengages and you don't relaize it's been 10 seconds since you last saw the road! You sound like a experienced driver but many others aren't! This is the last thing THEY need!
