    Oil chain

I am planning to do my first oil chain by myself and I have a couple of doubts....

1.- quantity of oil needed for the change.

2.- do I need to replace the oil filter every time I do an oil change.... I am planning to do an oil change every 10.000 km/7.000 miles

    Thanks

Yes, you must change the oil filter everytime you change the oil.. For the amount of oil u need, it depends on which engine u have. The 6.0L obviously takes more oil than the 5.3L and I think the 5.3 takes about 5-6 qts if not mistaken...

It's recommended you do an oil change every 3 months or 3,000 miles.. But I do every 5,000 until I hit 75,000. After I hit 75,000 I plan on using the more expensive synthetic oil which allows u to go I believe around 10,000 miles..

    Re: Oil chain

Sorry Itīs 6 Cylinders... So I do not know the quantity of oil I will need

I forgot to mention I am going to use Mobil1 5-30... synthetic

Do you recommend different change intervals or 10.000 km/7.000 miles are ok

    Re: Oil chain

    Sorry, I had the V8 N* which held 7 1/2 qts.
Have you looked at your Owners Manual?

I would trust the computer algorithm for oil changes, or max of 1 year. That is what Caddy recommends.

    Here's from the manual:

    Engine Oil with Filter
    3.6L V6 - 6.0 qt (5.7 L)
    4.6L V8 - 8.0 qt (7.6 L)

Yeah 6 quarts on the V6. FWIW I'm using Pennzoil Platinum and changing when the oil life monitor says 20% life remaining. Typically 8000 miles or so.
