Question Can the popping transfer case issue be diagnosed by removing a fuse?

Hi. I am currently shopping for an SRX. I found one I like at a very good price because of a popping sound on hard acceleration from a stop. I plan to fly in to pick it up and drive it home (1,043 miles), then repair the transfer case myself at home. My question is, when I get there to look at the SRX, can I diagnose that it is actually the transfer case chain slipping, by deactivating the awd. Does the SRx have a fuse for the awd or abs that would disable the awd? My theory is that if the awd is deactivated, the popping will not occur. Thanks

    Hi
I think when the TC is popping you wouldn drive that distance
The AWD, for my opinian, can't be deactivated, because its a permanent AWD. The TC is direct attached.
My theory is that if the awd is deactivated, the popping will not occur.
If the slipping is very bad you will hear the popping sound even when you touch the troudle

Thanks for the reply. The seller says the only time that the popping occurs is upon full throttle acceleration.
