I brought mine if for the repair, again. They replaced the nozzle. Unfortunately I did'nt check it until I got home. Now it washes the upper brake light and whatever trickles down is what I get to wash the window with.

I called the service manager and he said bring it right back, they'll take another look. Yeah, right! Like I have nothing better to do.
This would'nt be such a big issue except the aerodynamics of the vehicle blow mud all over the rear window. Maybe a rear spoiler is in order

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

All GM suv and vans inherently have this problem. I have had an oldsmobile silhouette premier, an escalade, a srx, and suburban. the only years there was no problem was on the older silhouette (owned two) it actually had the resevior in the rear and this one always worked as long as it was full. I noticed that if you run the rear squirters dry, they dont seem to ever get "primed" again. It runs of the front resevior and in some cases is 16 to 18 feet of hose away from the resevior

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

Not unique to SRX.

My 99 RX300 rear window washer died some time in the past before I traded it in. But then, the aerodynamics of the RX were such that washing the rear window was not needed that often. Hence the hose plugged.

SRX is a different story. Will be using it virtually everytime the roads are wet due to aerodynamics.

How about the slightest amount of clorox in the washer water to keep slime from forming?

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

I noticed that the cap for the fluid reservoir is very lose and flimsy, looks like it could be left open many times for dirt to get in, feels almost like its going to open on its own. Could this be where some of the clogging is coming from ??...

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

I brought my 04 V8 AWD SRX in today because the rear blade was not cleaning the glass - only the air - not enough tension to stick to the glass

they told me that salt and contaminants cause the spring arm lever to snap back and as a result not enough tension - who knows

told me to squirt some lubricant - wd40- to the lever arm and it will snap back - worked for now

Just got my SRX rear window washer fixed. Shorted motor and disconnected hose.

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

After unclogging it 6 weeks ago, I had a new nozzle installed today. Works great although the stream is needle like but it works and gets the job done. That's been the only problem in 2 months and 1500 miles. Still can't get over how solid and fast she is. Great car! My wife loves it more than I do and she's not even a car buff!

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

I have not looked at the design myself, but I can tell you what the dealer told me.

When I took it in for the failing rear washer, he seemed to be well aware of the many failures of that component. He said that there apparently is a "low" part of the hose that goes around something else. According to him, that low part tends to collect dirt and hardened washer fluid and gets clogged. He said that they blow out the hose and attempt to redirect its path to lessen the low point.

He said that this is especially true from non-use as it allows the clogs to form. That's why, according to him, so many people realize the failure after a long time of non-use (either it sat on the dealer lot, or you just haven't used the fluid for a while.)

Like I said, that is according to him and I can't personally say I've looked at the design.

I suppose if that is true, that sounds like a design flaw.

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

There's a tsb that says the fluid hose as it passes into the hatch could be kinked to some degree.

Directs tech to disengage the rubber conduit boot running from the top to the hatch and un-kink.
