I pulled up from the right and it won't budge. I sure would like to avoid the dealer if possible. I've pulled as hard as I dare w/o breaking something. I see where it's hinged but it doesn't even move even though I put on gloves for added leverage. Maybe the fact it's about 40 degrees here make it harder to move. Any further advice?

Pull up on the right edge of the cover. It has a snap latch.

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

Finally got shroud off after heating it with a hot rag; saw the nozzle and a 1/2 nut. Tried to pull out nozzle with plyers but it was too tight and I was afraid of crushing the nozzle with the plyers. Did you just pull it out or did you unscrew that nut. How much pressure did you put on the nozzle? Thanks

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

The nut holds on the wiper blade. I pulled on the plastic tip of the nozzle. Try to turn it, to loosen it. I thought it might be screwed in, but it was just a press fit. Good luck.

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

Dealer spent at least 1 1/2 hours on it yesterday. Totally clogged up. It now works but it shoots staright up and misses the windshield but does clean my garage ceiling. A new nozzle is on order.

Lucky you. I have to get on a ladder to clean my garage ceiling.:lightbulb Perhaps there is a useful purpose for that rear wiper afterall.

There was some delay in receiving the part and they did not want to delay delivery. I found this out when I tested the rear washer and it did not work. They also said that when it left the lot it was now working. So they sent me the part and much to my surprise it was just the nozzle and asked my to go to my local dealer and have it installed. When I scheduled my appointment the service writer informed me that IF THE FLUID FALLS BELOW 1/2 OR SO THE REAR WASHER WILL NOT WORK. So the night before the appointment I filled the container and much to my surprise the rear washer worked.

So for all those who had the rear washer serviced and then find out that after a while it does not work...this may be the reason rather than a defective
system, just an apparent design flaw. I was told that this was meant to ensure that the front washer did not run out. The rear washer not working should be your indicator to refill the washer fluid.

What a great idea! I'll feel stupid if it's in the book!! I was bringing mine in tomorrow!!! Of course the front is much more critical to keep clean than the rear in most conditions. But the leakers are a different matter! thanks for the info!

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

That 1/2 empty theory may be true but mine was royally clogged throughout the hoses and also needed a new nozel. It just doesn't make sense. Many cars have a low fluid light. You would think the SRX would do that rather than detrimentally affect your rear visibilty as a warning.

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

Add us to the list. Rear washer did not work from day one. Dealer had the car for 3 days to order the part & replace the entire line from the front to the back. Still don't know where the washer fluiid was actually going??? Works great now...

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

I took my 05 SRX to dealer for my first oil change and mentioned I can't get rear windshield washer to work. He told me there is service bulletin on this and it's because hose gets crimped from closing hatch. Part is backordered....wonder if I'll have it fixed before winter is over.
I'm getting more and more disinchanted with my SRX. Recently figured out that there is no rear heat! My kids were freezing and I was looking in the book, trying to figure out how to turn some heat up for them without blasting us in the front seat and came to conclusion that Caddy figured rear passengers don't need heat!
Also went out to my garage the other day to leave for appointment to find my car wouldn't start. I had roadside assistance come and the guy replaced my battery, telling me there was series of VIN's where battery was defective. It just didn't make sense since it's worked fine, nothing was left on, in warm garage, etc. Got call from dealer later who told me some problem with atenna module was probably to blame--sending signal to find XM or Onstar or something---(while car is off?????) and this caused my battery to drain. I don't know....something doesn't sound right. And yes, necessary part is on back order.... Does there seem to be trend here?

Angry Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

Add me to the list of malfuctioning rear washers. I noticed the problem before I took delivery and I sat in the service waiting room for 2 hours while they worked on it. They told me it was fixed. I drove down the road and tested it then went right back. They said it was frozen antifreeze. Liars.
Now its going in for service this wednesday for that and also;
-Vibration at highway speed
-drivers door window weatherstripping
-fuel pump problem

Is this a design problem and should the washer fluid be fanned out when it sprays (like normal cars do), or do we have to live with the jet spray?
So after 3 months, I finally took the vehicle in for repair of the rear washer. Needless to say, its fixed now, but geez its worthless!?!? It squirts that little jet straight up which basically helps me smear everything, but not much more. Not sure which is worse, the silly little spray when it works, or simply leaving it non-functional.

I'm getting a clean swipe - but I had to lubricate the hinge on the armature during a particularly sloppy period. I noted that there simply wasn't enough tension holding the wiper blade to the glass. Since lubricating the armature, things have been significantly better.

Re: Rear Windshield Washer Not Working

The dealer fixed ours last week. Replaced some hose and a new nozzle. My local dealer said they have had several SRX's with this problem so they ordered several pieces of each part so they had it in stock for the next rear washer problem. :coolgleam
