My windshield washer pump has failed.
I looked at the reservoir and was not able to readily determine how to replace the pump which appears to be on the underside.
I am usually handy but just need a little help on this one.
Thanks to all for your attention
It is unbelievable the gyrations I will have to go through to replace my windshield washer - no wonder service costs are so high! The pump is less than $20 on the internet; however, @ $75/hour or more for bay time, it would probably be near $200 to get it done.
Don't the engineers know that we like to do our own stuff?
I will bookmark the site since it has quite a wealth of information, thanks again.
Well, right, but cars today are designed for ease of assembly when built- repairs- that's your problem, not theirs- bad PR if you ask me....which you didn't. But I remember thinking the same thing when I was working on my '30s era Fords. Had to start somewhere!
Another thought, is it your front or rear washer not working? If rear, it uses upper pump which needs a fuller reservoir. Also check jack compartment for water; mine was from broken washer line in the accordion connector to the hatch, easy to fix.
OK, for all who care.
The service manual site is now a paid site, $15/yr. Covers all GM from mid '90s through '09.
To get it, go to gpona.com, a forum for Gran Prix.
Register (free) and then sign up for Premium, $15, 1 year or recurring.
Now you have access to the SM and can bookmark the site without going through gpona each time.
Sometimes there are glitches with the site and you need to log off, then back on the gpona site for it to work. If that doesn't do it send a PM to Dustin as he is in charge of the site.
