    Waking up a dead thread....

So what happens when you use a 24mm socket w/ said extension and the f'n nut on the housing fn snaps off??

Haha yeah I was in a search for the bypass valve and this popped up. If that happens if it can't be removed or cut off replace the entire adapter housing.

The V6 has a cartridge on top of the engine, so I would say when hot it would come off better.

Since the housing is busted I'd attempt to use a drift punch or chisel and try to loosen by applying torque by hitting on the side.

Be careful with an impact though make sure the psi is adjusted so as to not break the rest of the adapter off

    Re: oil filter cap overtightened

I have only changed the oil once on my new 2010 3.0l and it was tight but came off with an L handle, maybe for fun I will try it hot and cold to see if it makes a difference.
