    Re: Cylinder numbers?

Someone more mechanically inclined can jump in here, but I believe the 3.6L V6 in the 04 SRX has the 1/3/5 cylinders on the right engine bank and the 2/4/6 cylinders on the left engine bank. So 1/3/5 would be on your left as you face the engine bay from the front of the car.

I don't have the V6 but am pretty sure the V6 is mounted longitudinally (versus transverely) like a traditional rear wheel drive car.

    Re: Cylinder numbers?

PJ1520 is absolutely correct. I just used his information to diagnose a bad coil pack on my girlfriends 2004 SRX V6 RWD. The check engine light came on at the same time the car started running like garbage. Pulled the codes and got a #5 cylinder misfire. Swapped the #5 and #6 coil packs (using PJ1520's provided info) and sure enough it threw a code for cylinder #6. Thanks for the help. I love having information like this available, and hope I can help someone in the same way.

    Re: Cylinder numbers?

I traded a first generation 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora Autobahn for the SRX. Originally scheduled to be released as a Cadillac back in 1993-1994, it was rebadged as an Oldsmobile right before the original release to help the failing Oldsmobile brand. This car came with a destroked 4.6L V8 Northstar engine whose displacement was 4.0 liters. Replacing the (failing) coil packs one at a time was an exercise in futility for those who had the car and experienced misfires.

    99, Check this-

A misfire DTC could be caused by a camshaft actuator stuck in the full advance or retard position.
