Hesitation then Surge When Accelerating from Standstill

I have an '04 SRX V6 and within the last month, you press the accelerator from standstill and it hesitates/whirs and then sorta surges into acceleration. It's only in first gear and only from a standstill. It seems to have gotten worse over the past month. I'm going to take it to the dealer on Monday but wondered if anyone has any ideas so I can cut down on my diagnosis time. I don't think it's the gas cause it's not a knock/ping. I'm wondering if it's the trans...thanks for your help.

This sounds like the torque converter. I believe there is a TSB on the shudder problem with this year model. I have the same year, and mine shudders at 2000 rpm under load; but not all the time.

I have the same problem with my 04 V6 87k mi. took it to the dealr twice and wouldn't do it there. It does it a lot but not all the time. Hope to get it resolvet before GMPP runs out.

It happens more often when turning and up hill, but also happened on flat road going straight.

    Drives me crazy!!!

I think this is some other issue. The shudder happens while costing down to a stop not accelerating like th OP described. Is that what you have going on?

I'm having the same issue with my O4 SRX V-6 with 80k miles on it. Wondering if there's been anymore discoveries on this issue?

It was not indicated when the last tune-up was done. While the sparkplugs may not yet be at end of life, the plug cables may be. The issue could also be a clogged fuel filter, which is messy but easy to fix.

it's your timing chain tensioner. best bet is to do it all (timing chains (3)), cost me $700 to do it myself. the dealer wants $2400 to do it.
