    Rough Starting

On three widely-spaced occasions, I had trouble starting my 05 V8 SRX. It would fire, then run very roughly, sometimes quitting and having to be restarted. On one occasion, it started in my garage, rumbled and shook, emitted a huge cloud of smoke, and then ran smoothly. In each case, it eventually smoothed out with no further problem. One time I had to restart it a dozen or so times, but fortunately the battery held out and it took off. It has nearly 70k miles and has never been tuned up. Any ideas? Injectors? Ignition????

    Re: Rough Starting

Sounds like something seriously wrong with the mixture, which is not likely injectors or ignition. What you describe is more likely an air sensor or perhaps something with the throttle actuator. Hopefully someone else has some experience with your symptoms and the resolution.

Thanks. I hate to take it in when it is running fine, and the problem does not last long enough to take it in when it is failing. Maybe it dropped a code for the scanner.

    Re: Rough Starting

I already had a thread up with the same issue with my N* SRX.
No cure yet as is is planned for workshop. They have been notified.
Also have check engine light up. Codes have been diagnosed for bad catalystic converter. I hope both issues are related and solved with one fix.
