2004 V8 oil change

So I changed the oil on the SRX for the first time, very easy and no problems at all for the home DIYer.

Only word of cauition is make sure your pan is stable and empty, the oil just does not stop coming out.

Re: 2004 V8 oil change

Good job! I change mine with no problem, the oil filter cartridge is relatively easy. I let the pan drip fpr a while.

Re: 2004 V8 oil change

You would assume wrong.

I did it when my wife got home so oil temp was way up and it did not need to drip for too long.

I dod do this on the hoist so it was not too bad but I only have a 10 1/2 foot ceiling so I was crouched down but better than on my back.

I don't get to do oil changes much and they are so easy, it is a nice change from doing major work.

You can go @@$$%@$# yourself.

It took just under 9 liters, assume you know what a liter is? I even used the American spelling so you did not have to hurt yourself thinking.

No I did not just loose my job!

Re: 2004 V8 oil change

The V8 (at least my 2006) takes 8 quarts of oil, and uses a spin on filter rather than the cannister style filter used on the V6.

Re: 2004 V8 oil change

If the V8 is AWD, then it only holds 7.5 quarts of oil. 8 quarts for RWD. The shaft for the front wheels goes through the pan, reducing the capacity.

Re: 2004 V8 oil change

Thanks Conedoctor and Don73 for the good information. Sounds easy enough that I may give it a try myself. Oh and dctex99, the North* V8 is wonderful compared to the V6. It does everything easily and smoothly that the V6 has to exert itself to do.
