Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

out of the 7 or 8 I didnt have problems with everyone of them. at the time I posted I had not really counted the new ones, but I will now and list problems as I go
#1 1985 eldorado,I ordered this car with a deposit.first new cadillac.. front differential changed out at less than 2,000 miles, dealership knew I was a unhappy 26 year young customer so they gave me everything I paid them back towards the purchase of a new 85 biaritz
    #2 1985 Biarritz
#3 1991 cadillac sts (cadillac offered $5,000.00 owner loyalty if you still owned the 85) this car was white diamond and the trunk did not match. dealership then got me a new sts from gm display at epcot and when i went to pick it up they did not notice it did not have the sunrrof which mine did. then they were going to trade me the cadillac reps car and it had noticeable orange spray and trash in the paint job on the drivers door. by all this time of trying to get me in a new car with no problems it was too late to order a car due to the new body change,so cadillac agreed to allow the dealership to apply all the monies paid on the 91 towards the onion sheet price of the 1992.
    #4 1992 sts pearl white

Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

after taking delevery of this car I noticed the next week at dark under the lights at a gas station that the passenger door did not match.. a special rep was sent down to do a paint decimal test,as they could not believe it. It was latter determined that the door was changed before it left the factory. this is when a 10 percent luxary tax was in effect on high dollars cars and I was tired of paying so cadillac offered me a $8,000.00 good will certificate towards the purchase or lease of a new cadillac..I leased a 94 sts for two years and paid almost nothing using the goodwill of 8,000
    #5 1994 sts
#6 2006 srx(problems as posted in the op
#7 2007 srx with current problems as posted in the op

never have really counted them in detail thats why i said 7 or 8 new ones, right now I own 2 1999 sts with blown head gaskets, 1996 sls,1970 deville convertible and 1965 junk deville convertible parts car

I still own my first new car which is a 1979 pontiac trans am with only 26,000 miles best car I have ever owned..lol and it a P O N T IA C

Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

Well... it has been exactly 10 days since they replaced my lumbar support... and guess what!

I got in this morning and the seat felt "Mushy".. so I hit the lumbar button... Wirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Wirrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... and NOTHING!

Mine you - - I do NOT abuse the thing... hell... I never use it. So I don't understand why it is breaking on the second use. Nobody else ever drives the car, so once set there is no reason to change it.

Back in the shop she goes again I guess. Looking back.. I have owned the car one year.. and it has spent 22 days in the shop during my first year of ownership. The guys at the dealership say Hi Mr ______, as they now know me.

My MPG did improve... it is now an overall average of 15.9... but she has been getting a lot of highway miles lately.

Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

well my pos, cadillac calls it a 07 srx..left me stranded in the middle of a busy intersection today..heard a clunk and the transmission quit pullling, no forward or reverse..the dealership told me the good thing was that it has two years left on the warranty and they would get around to looking at it next week, so they put me in a used buick with 57,000 miles and sent me home. I called cadillac and complained once more ,got a new case number and was told maybe next week a district specialist would be in touch with me

Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

Chp.... and what will the district representative do when he/she gets in touch with you. I understand they can't even give away Cadillac Baseball Caps anymore.

At least you got a car to drive - I know a couple of people who didn't even get a ride home. GM is not obligated to give you a car to drive, unless you paid for "Car Rental" Coverage.

As for my Lumbar - - it isn't that important... so I am going to wait a bit to see what else breaks so I can get a couple of things fixed in a single stop. Of course, I am assuming something else will break.. but based on passed performance, I think that is a safe assumption.

GM may not be obiligated ,but cadillac is, cadillac owners have privilages and one of them is a free loaner car or the rental of one..
and as far as the district specialist, it is the start of cadillac providing a goodwill to keep me buying cadillacs..read my previous post..this is not my first cadillac

Good Luck with the District specialist providing Goodwill. Since the Bailout, everything comes down to $$$ with GM.

My 2008 SRX hasn't had connectivity for the OnStar or phone since I got it. Dealers have no clue, but keep asking me to bring it in to "check". OnStar has even been unable to download a software fix for it

    Adienviro...

Maybe that is a blessing! Having Onstar will just blow $300 out of your checking account for a year of service - - and $40 for 100 minutes that expire in a year from purchase.

Some guys are replacing their Onstar Controller with a bluetooth phone unit.

Regarding your issue however :: Has GM replaced the Onstar Controller Unit under your back seat yet? There are only 2 parts that can affect "connectivity" and that is the Antenna System and the Controller.

This reminds me of when my remote controls would not work from farther then 25 feet. (sometimes closer). If a device stops working, replace the device!

Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

For those struggling with the incessant UltraView problems with reversal of directions when performing express close......

Previously I indicated the more I use the UltraView the better it operates. I also notice that it is balkier and reverses unasked more when the car's engine isn't running. It will usually close easier and without interruption with the engine running, even at idle......more juice from the battery and charging system I presume. Did anyone ever notice that with your SRX?

Re the pure highway fuel mileage on the First Gen SRX, I can consistently get within a tenth or two (of 22) when driving above 70 on cruise uninterrupted for extended stretches (above 100 miles), even with passengers and luggage. No tolls, no speeding up and slowing down for traffic, etc. I read somewhere that most vehicles get their absolute best fuel mileage between 45and 55 mph. Above that, the wind resistance takes over and the mileage falls. Makes sense to me, but around my neck of the woods driving the speed limits is unheard of.

I can never try this stuff out with the wife in the SRX because the complaints start right up: You're driving too slow!" Previously in our relationship, it was always the opposite: "You always drive like you're on the last lap of the Daytona 500." Put the grandchildren in the car and she reverts to the original wife. I can't win.

Nice the dealer gave you a comparable ride functionality-wise while waiting on the trans.

BUT.................how did the service techs explain how water got into the transmission and into the transfer case? A failure/leak in/with the coolant lines? I've heard of them leaking external to the trans but not internal. That's weird.

Oops! My '07 N*'s charmed existence (43k) has ended- been at the dealer for a week with a bad valve. The battery is also being replaced. They gave me a POS loaner but it gets me around. Sure glad I have the CPO warranty!

Re: So... What is wrong with your NEW SRX?

    October 2010 Update...

    Well.. came back from vacation.

As these things go - all of a sudden I have 2 new problems.

Remember, I have not taken her in to get the Drivers Lumbar fixed - again - - as I decided to wait until I had some other reasons, such as not to waste a trip.

Well... All of a sudden the key is VERY difficult to insert and remove into the ignition. It is as if there is a rubber grommet or something gooey in the way. Sometimes you really have to push or pull HARD to get the key in/out.

Next - this morning my Nav/Radio screen flickered. It was a very obvious flicker. Driving a lunch it did not flicker. It is like when your LCD Computer Monitor is about to die.

I'll wait a few days, to see why these problems do before taking her in.

Anyone else have Sticky Keys, or Flickering Monitors ??
