I'm getting ready to take my 09' SRX to the shop to get those "little things" fixed.
These are the things I hope to have worked on!
NAV/RADIO WILL NOT TURN OFF:
When the Power Button is pressed, instead of the unit going off and “dark”, it goes quiet, and presents a very annoying bright blue screen. Should not be presenting blue screen. Screen should go off and dark when hitting power button off. Current work-a-round is to go Menu/Display/Display OFF then turn Volume Down. This gets annoying sometimes. I have no clue with the dealership will do with this one!
DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR:
Drivers side door mirror has reflection mirror flaws, which cause a ripple in the View. This is annoying and distracting, especially at night. I hope to get GM to replace glass! * NOTE: No – it is not the window tinting or glass, verified with window down.
Also: I'll have the dealer check heating system on Mirror – Drivers Side Mirror takes 3 Times as long to clear fog/mist/ice as passenger mirror, indicating a flaw in the heating system.
TRANSMISSION SHIFT PROGRAMMING:
Transmission down shifts from 5th to 4th way too easily and too often when in drive, especially on the highway with Cruise engaged. With slight acceleration or slight incline without acceleration the car will lurch and downshift. This is actually very dangerous when running with cruise control as it causes the car to lurch forward unexpectedly. Can’t run cruise on highway, if there is the slightest incline, unless you remember to put shifter into sport / manual mode – 5th.
Putting Shifter in M5 stops the annoying down shifting, but then you have to remember to put it back into drive for stops and town driving.
I am hoping the dealership will reprogram computerized transmission shifting parameters.
DRIVERS DOOR DROPS:
Drivers’ door “drops” when Opening. Please adjust so this won’t create problems in the future. The other doors seem to align fine.
WATER DRIPS:
AC drips cold water on Drivers Foot. My Wife expressed concern of damage to expensive shoes. I'm am concerned because drips turn into floods with cars!
Im on around my 30th issue with this truck in 20k miles now the control arms the dealer replaced a month ago are popping and creaking again and replaced a tensioners pulley again today twice since October.
Upper, lower, right side, or left? Both of my lowers were cooked at 27,000 miles (groaning with suspension travel) but no issues since and I am at 82K. The clunking up front on mine was due to worn insulators on the front sway bar, also replaced at 27K and no problems since due to suspension.
Whiplash, I just wanted to let you know that the Customer Service team nearest you is available to follow up on any lingering concerns you may have post-appointment at the dealer. This link gives you GM of Canada's contact information for both phone hotline and online communications: http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/corporate/about/contactus/overview
Both from lowers. I replaced the sway bar links and bracket bushings 6 months ago. Checked those today and all are still good. Swapping them out tomorrow since their warranted through a parts store. Im having the noise come from the front control arms for sure. Wd40 and a prybar test. Driver lower.
Based on what I have read previously on this forum on worn control arm bushings, the lubrication will quell the groaning for a short period but the groaning racket (very annoying) always comes right back. I have been wondering these past 55,000 miles why the factory-installed control arm bushings and the front sway bar insulators only lasted 27K miles but the dealer-installed replacements (so far) have been holding up.

Whiplash.....$1,646 (14 hours) in dealership labor? For swapping out the module kit? So you can have heat? I wonder what a private automotive HVAC specialist would charge. Second opinion is definitely in order on this one.
^Thanks. I spoke with the technician and its the MODULE KIT. Air Conditioner (Complete).

The part itself is is $120, but he said whole dash has to come apart and would take 12-14 hrs. And at $109/hr + 13% taxes, I will be cold in my caddy this winter unless I figure out how to change it myself.
My car is doing same thing with no heat on passenger side. Works fine in summer. Was going to replace actuator motor but the dealer is telling you about a kit? Please let us know what part actually corrects this.
lol, I got skeered
ordered plugs already and see if that fixes the random misfires
been driving almost all day today and no misfires, green almost across the board
the O2 heater thing is still there
I have no idea what is meant by "O2 heater monitor bank 4 - sensor 4". Your engine has only 2 banks with 2 O2 sensors per bank. There isn't a bank 4 or a sensor 4.:hmm:
I got one of those O2 Bank 1 sensor 2 CELs yesterday too. Not a good month of ownership so far. Let us know what you do to fix the problem. Im assuming a new O2 sensor.
Ugh lol, why can't it be simple. Damn modern cars and their sensors. My car still drives perfectly fine. Just that damn light is there staring at me. I already erased it 4 times and it doesn't pop up until I start the car up next time. I think I'm just going to put black tape over it and maybe deal with it in the summer if I feel like it.
mine is not throwing a cel at all
its just when I pull real time info/analytics that I see those
on another note
good news: whining sound (which I suspected was the power steering) is gone
bad news: power steering is gone
rechecked my 'hose' work from a year and half ago and everything seems ok
fluid is ok, no new leaks that I can discern or find
is it what I think it is? sigh
anyway, can I drive w/o the power steering for the next few days w/o damaging anything else?
I've been neglecting my thread.. sorry about that... Life got hectic... I'll do better!
Dredd... keep us updated... Yea... these sensors can be a PITA. - - but they do tell is when something is wrong. (except when it is the sensor itself that is the problem.
The reason I'm posting today is..
My Humpty threw up in the driveway again... This time it was coolant. The Water Pump blew.
and... the struts that assist with the rear door, haven't worked in a month or so, but I was waiting for something else to happen.
So.. We are at 64k miles, and made it 2 months again, since the last failure.
Issue # 57. Rear Door Struts Failed... Replaced.
Issue # 58. Water Pump Failed… Replaced.
She was due for her 60k Mile Maintenance... $431 later, she is all caught up on maintenance.
ELCO gave me a CTS to drive... cute car, but I like my SRX a lot more.
I thought I would just update this with my current list of issues.
I bought the car in December of 2012.
So far:
-Drivers side heat does not work
-Oxygen sensor throwing CEL for high voltage
-Rear window wiper squirter stopped working
-Power steering pump leaking
-Loud thump over small bumps on right side of vehicle(LCA or swaybar end links)
- Driver front hub bearing started humming
-Cylinder 1 misfire if I go WOT
Most of this is due to very high miles so its expected. It just sucks having to do all this haha.
Whip... you keep going, and your list might catch up with mine!
Humpty went to the shop again... The lift gate motor assembly decided to become "Wobbly".
Dealer replaced motor and rods, only to learn after install, there was an engineering change, and the new motor would not program to my SRX.
So... a second motor and lift assembly was installed.
Issue # 59: Power Lift Gate Motor Assembly Fail... Replaced.
