Nav Disc that will work in a 2005 SRX

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a 2005 SRX and the navigation disc ( Part # 25767790) is not working correctly ( The dealer even checked it out). I went to the GM Nav disc website and the only disc they are selling now for my car is the new 2009 updated Nav disc. The problem is that I have to pay for it which is 200 bucks and even if I wanted now it's on backorder.
I have searched ebay for the original disc I have and I've seen a few but they were way overpriced for a 4 year old disc.
My question is that does anybody know what other disc (different part #s), upgrades that would work for the 2005 SRX.

I was once told by a svc. mgr. that the disks were not backwards compatable. He said once you upgraded to say V1.8 you could not put in the v1.5 and have it work. Can anyone verify this?

THAT would be correct in Chrysler vehicles, but not in GM (at least Cadillac). Chrysler NAV's software are updated w/ new DVD's; GM's are just map data.

That may be true for the SRX...I do not know for sure, but it is not true for the DTS.

I recently got the latest NAV DVD for my 2006 DTS and it updated the firmware of the NAV unit itself.

When you first put in the new disk...it said "PLEASE WAIT...UPDATING." It took 3 or 4 minutes.

It now has several new features...including letting you scroll thru song list while moving and getting rid of the nag screen that pops up every time you turn it on.

I also updated my sons 2007 GMC pickup and he is using an older version of the map disk. It also works fine.

It may not work that way on the SRX...just relating my experience on my car.
