    SRX Crash damage

    Hello,

In doing my homework to decide which SUV to buy I came across some 5 mph bumper damage tests. Unfortunately the SRX gets a "poor" rating.

I was wondering, does this bother most SRX owners ? Has enybody investigated getting any sort of bumper protectors ? Down here in Texas every other vehicle is truck with a cow catcher on the front ! :drinkerI'd like to give my SRX at least a fighting chance down here. One thing I thought of was to get bumper protector that fits in the tow hitch.
Or, should I just not worry about it and not spoil the SRXs good looks?
    What do people think ?

You should be clear on exactly what your priority is: safety or potential accident repair costs. The report you cite is about how well vehicles fare in repair costs when you get into small fender benders. Yes, many of these luxury vehicles, including the SRX, will cost alot to repair. However I will go out on a limit and say that most luxury car/truck buyers don't care too much about that. Safety however is a completely different matter and is very important to many of us. On that front, the SRX fares pretty well (although not perfect).

The fog lights, headlights, and headlight washers are nearly flush with the front end of the vehicle, the rear bumper has the parking assistance hardware built in. Obviously there's a lot of stuff to break even in a mild tap. That's true of a lot of vehicles these days, when style has taken a priority over damage management. The SRX is still a fundamentally safe vehicle.

I'd be really P.O.'d if some big eldorado w/longsteer horns on the hood speared my back tailgate! - then again I'd get 2 more holes to add anti-backup sensors..
