I have a tear in my outer CV boot on the passenger side. I think I'm just going to replace the whole halfshaft myself, if I can. The dealer wanted $350to just replace the boot. I can get the halfshaft for about $100. I have the manual on how to do so, but it calls for a bunch of specialty tools, pullers, etc., which if I bought, would make it easier just to have the dealer do it. It looks like the differential seal protector is a must have, but as far as pulling the halfshaft out of the differential are there any other alternatives? Maybe pry it out using a prybay between the diff and the halfshaft?

Any suggestions?
