Changed battery 2004 V6 SRX - now problem

Remove this ad
Needed a new battery for my 2004 V6 SRX and after reading several Cadillac forums decided not to buy another weak $145 battery from the dealer. A forum recommended an Interstate MTP-78. It was $106 but has a lot more power and a longer warranty.

Went to my local Tires Plus and had them install the battery. After I left I discovered that the "auto up" feature on the drivers and front passenger windows no longer works.

Any advice on fixing this without going to the dealer?

Thank you

Re: Changed battery 2004 V6 SRX - now problem

See page 2-15 in the '04 manual.
Welcome aboard
Programming the Power Windows
If the battery on your vehicle has been recharged,
disconnected or is not working, you will need to
reprogram each front power window for the express-up
feature to work. Before reprogramming, you will need
to replace or recharge your vehicle’s battery.
To program each front window, follow these steps:
1. With the ignition in ACCESSORY, ON or when
Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active, close
all doors.
2. Press and hold the down arrow on the power
window switch until the window has fully opened.
3. Press the up arrow on the power window switch
until the window is fully closed.
4. Continue holding up arrow on the switch for
approximately two seconds after the window
is completely closed.
The window is now reprogrammed. Repeat the process

for the other front window.

Re: Changed battery 2004 V6 SRX - now problem

I experienced the same issue after a dead battery, however after a few days, the feature (auto-up) returned after a few days without programming...

Re: Changed battery 2004 V6 SRX - now problem

Along with express up, I had the tailgate go wonky after a battery replacement - would open with fob but wouldn't unlock so couldn't manually open. Also disappeared after a few ignition cycles. Weird.
