Anyone know if the vent issue is a real concern? I'm sure I'll have to do this again in two years. Oh by the way, 2004 V8 SRX, 2nd replacement battery. |
The aftermarket batteries have pretty good warranties, so I wouldn't care about pre-mature failure.
Here are my thoughts... I bought the walmart brand battery, because it had the longest warranty. 3 year (I think) free replacement, 7 year pro-rated. If it fails within 3 years, then Wal-mart gets to buy me a battery, or after that, I still get a new battery at a discount. At the local Cadillac dealer the battery was somewhere around $174, and I got my Wally world battery for $64. The "worst" case scenario is the battery dies after 7 years (my 101 battery died after 4 years) then I buy another battery and still haven't spent as much as I would have for the 101. Plus the battery lasted almost twice as long. Either way, financially at least, you are much better off buying an aftermarket battery, no matter what kind you get.
My corvette had the same battery, and it went bad. I went to Sam's club and the auto guy there was pushing me to buy the more common size. He had me buy an Optima red top which was $139-$9 core-$25 rebate.
