Got a slightly used (2004 4.6lt AWD ) SRX with 76.000 km ( 47 K miles) just about one week ago. Radiator leaked from day one and it got replaced right away (still one month warranty left).
Love this car and a few days ago I did a bit of serious driving in the twisties with it. Amazing handling - moves like a Sports Car.
When I pulled into the driveway I noticed that the Power Steering would not work. . :hmm: Having a problem with my tennis elbow it sure was serious work to get this thing to its proper place. .
Anyways - opened the hood and checked power steering fluid, which seemed to be ok.
Next day I take the car and -surprise - everything worked the way it should.
At least the first few miles that is. .
Called up the used car dealer (not a Cadillac Dealer) , wher I bought it and they told me to come and see them, since they'll check it out.
Chief mechanic there (seems to be a nice, straight forward guy)checked things out and couldn't find anything. He called a "Specialist", who came one hour later with his truck and machinery. This guy specialises in power steerings - he changed the fluid , but this didn't resolve the problem either. Now they think it is electrically related and I got an appointment coming Monday where the car goes to a place which specialises in this sort of problem (checking pump, switches and so on)
The interior light also did not work - they replaced the fuse, which blew right away again. . Mechanic told me that the interior light did work 2 weeks ago, since he had this car for a weekend (I was not sure whether it worked or not when I bought the car). Now they think that perhaps this electrical problem might also have to do with the motor / sensor for the power steering. .
This morning I just had to move the car out of the driveway (since the neighbour had to cut a tree) - and power steering worked the way it should. . :hmm:
Please , please tell me I did not buy a lemon. . . First the radiator, now this. . what's next ?
