New to the forum and love your info

Hi Forum Members, I am new here and I have to say thank you for the input you share for you helped me and my hubby purchase our second SRX. We originally purchased a 2007 SRX and immediately upon purchasing through the dealer we disliked the 20" tires on the Sport Model. Yes, I am a woman but it didn't take me much to figure out the 20" tires and the small wheel well wouldn't cut it for our snowy winters so we had new wheels and tires 18" installed by dealer. Anyways, thanks to someone posting on the factory info on colors for the 2009 SRX we changed our color selection on ordering vehicle to the Blue Diamond which I have to tell you this color is gorgeous. The finish has little specks of all colors and even on a cloudy day or evening light this color sparkles from the finish in all the colors of the rainbow. I just had to thank you members for I am not sure if most of you are men but you helped this gal out tremendously. Also, you may want to know on the 2009 Sports model they have changed the wheel well to an inch larger all around and we have 20" tires and what a big difference. I hope I learn more from you members. I was a Ford gal all these years and my brother was shocked we went "to the other side" he said "they'll always come back" but I don't see that ever happening. Thanks again.

Welcome. The front tire diameters for comparison (per online calculator):

    235/55/17: 29.02"
    235/60/18: 29.1"
    255/50/20: 30.03" (also ~ 3/4" wider than stock)

The reason I'd avoid 20" wheels for winter tires would be to gain additional sidewall height to avoid wheel damage.

Agree 100%. Still, the wheel well thing is interesting. If true, that could not have been a cheap changeover especially for a model near the end of its current design life. Other than this post, I had not heard anything about it.

Perhaps we are not talking about the same thing here. What exactly do you mean by "wheel well"?
If you are referring to the metal or plastic shell within the body panels that encircles the wheel, you are talking a major operation. This would involve "tubbing" or removal or cutting out of the wheel house shells and any associated material and fabricating larger wheel houses and modifying interior pieces and/or body panels to allow for the larger "wheel wells".

I'm confused???? Where do you see any ordering info on the 2009 SRX and the color choices? I went to www.cadillac.com/srx and see only 2008 models????

    What gives?

Thanks and Welcome to the forum!!

Re: New to the forum and love your info

Regarding how I had found info on the 2009 SRX, if you look back on prior posts towards end of May you should find it. I tried to post a link here but the forum won't let me.
Also, for what I measured was the wheel well from body end on the left to the right and that was where it was different on the 2007 SRX Sport and the 2009 SRX Sport. I hope this helps.
