no it does not because it is in fact a recall, like i stated its really up to the discretion of your dealer, i give all of my customers loaner cars regardless if the repair is warranty or not

Re: Voluntary emission recall

I called my dealership today and they said they didn't have the parts in stock to fix my car and they will call me when they get the parts in stock. In fact, they stated that even though I received the recall notice that they are going to 'inspect' my car and see if the parts need to be replaced. I thought if I received the letter than they need to replace the parts?!

Re: Voluntary emission recall

there is an inspection process for the part number, of all the ones we have done so far only one vehicle didnt require the repair, so there is a good chance you will need replacement

Can you share what the inspection process is looking for?

Re: Voluntary emission recall

if you got the letter from gm that just means your vehicle fell into the vin break, from that point the tech has to hoist the vehicle and inspect the part numbers on the cat. during the producion they installed SOME cats from a certain manufacturer that they now want replaced under recall, they know this by part number. as stated above, most vehicle we inspect need replacement. its very hard to see the numbers most times you need some solvent and mirror to read them

Re: Voluntary emission recall

I just got my car back. It turned out I didn't need any(emission) repairs. One cat was replaced not a long time ago when it failed ant the other had the "right" number. However they found a rear diff seal leaking and replaced it for me for free
No loaner but a good dealer after all.

Re: Voluntary emission recall

Well I just got the bad news today that my 2004 SRX V6 AWD needs 2 pre-cats and 1 Cat. May take a while to get the parts; I was told.

Why do you consider that bad news? I guess I look at it as if I get a brand new part on a four-year-old vehicle?

Re: Voluntary emission recall

LOL, well I guess I'm a glass-half-empty kind of guy.

I have to take time out of my busy schedule and bring the car into the dealership, probably taking a day off to do it. Plus, it's not like they are replacing the entire exhaust system, they are attaching cat's to aged metal. It's like going to the dentist, I should be happy to have my filling fixed? LOL

Re: Voluntary emission recall

I just got my car back from the dealer for this recall. They replaced the 2 - Pre-cats, and the CAT.

Man these things stink while they break in. When I first got the car back and drove down the road with the windows down, my exhaust smelled like puppy feet/corn chips. Now it just plain smells bad. I guess that will dissapate with age.

Anyone experience rough engine or hesitation at 1500 rpm with load prior to getting these CATS repaired?

Al

Talking Re: Voluntary emission recall

Just got my cats changed today under the recall. I agree...you have to love that smell. Believe me...I'm not complaining though. I'll take free parts and labor anytime, esp. since it's not under warranty anymore.

Re: Voluntary emission recall

It sounds like I'm having the same problem alot of people on here are having, but my car is an 06 so it does not fall under the recall.

My cats began to rattle, and have now made the car un-driveable.

Does anyone have a number for the recall, or have any info I could use to get my car covered?

Re: Voluntary emission recall

please note that the emission warranty extends beyond the regular warranty, I think it's 7yr/70k miles, may vary by year model. Check with your dealer and you may get the the work covered, unless you're past it milage wise.
