I honestly don't look.

I have a station (Marathon) mastercard credit card that gives me 5% back on all gas or other items purchased at any Marathon station. At the station, if you buy 50.00 on a pre-paid gas card, they give you 4% OFF (all Marathon stations do this - Marathon pays them back). So a $50.00 prepaid card costs you $48.00. $100.00 card costs you $96.00, etc. I buy increments of $200 for $192.00.

So.. here is what I do: I buy the prepaid gas card with my Marathon Mastercard, and end up saving 9% per gallon. (4 percent for buying a prepaid card, and 5 percent back on that purchase from the Mastercard = 9%)

So, if gas is 3.50 per gallon, I get about 32 cents off per gallon, bringing my per gallon cost down to 3.18. Therefore, I always buy there and never really look at the current price.

I am sure this can be managed with other companies (this was not a plug for Marathon), just my manipulation of the system to always pay 9% less per gallon than advertised. Marathon probably would not care, as it makes me buy ALL my gas there!

I feel bad for the trucks here who pay $5 gallon for diesel.

Re: Gas prices, what do you pay where?

I feel bad too...... but for myself not them. I just had a switch brought in by the local parts place from 400 kms away and they stuck me $1.25 fuel surcharge for a piece no larger than my thumb that retailed for 8 bucks!
So I say to this idiot....I can bring in a 350 chevy long block or a switch and the fuel surcharge is the same.....makes perfect sense to me.....NOT!

I never pay more than about $40 to $45 for a fill-up. Cheap gas? Not! Just fill-up when the tank is about, what should I say, half-full or half-empty? Last fill-up at 3.59.9 for 93 Octane.

I always do that as well - lots of reasons why - particularly in the winter. I had trouble keeping up in the SRX though due to the combination of the V8 AWD gas mileage and smallish fuel capacity. I had to fill up 2x per week in the SRX to stay above 1/2, and I don't drive that much! I only have to fill up the Lade once a week to stay above 1/2. Basically the same gas mileage (Lade slightly better on the highway), but a LARGER tank. Either way, if I drove more miles, the gas prices would be very irritating. Luckily, my wife only drives about 4K miles per year and I only drive about 10K. Therefore, I never really look much at gas mileage when purchasing a vehicle.

Re: Gas prices, what do you pay where?

Regular is at $1.294/litre here in Montreal. Doing the maths, we have $4.83 a gallon!

Super (91 octane) is at $5.13 a gallon.

Re: Gas prices, what do you pay where?

Up in Manitoba we have 1.229 a litre x 3.785411784 is 4.65 Gal
I can see on the gas temperature maps that Salt Lake is at 3.23 gal which is x 0.26417205 = 0.85 litre and 3.99 in Clear Oaks California which is 1.05 a litre. Why is California so expensive? I also see 4.31 a gallon in Happy Camp California 1.14 a litre

California? No doubt, higher because of clean air requirements and the fact that they can get the price. Some cities have gas tax like Chicago.
Fed tax state etc in Illinois as follows.
Illinois 57.9 6.25% sales tax. 0.003 per gallon tax for underground storage tank fund.
Additional 12.75 cpg in City of Chicago
