O2 sensor replacement is not required for a catalyst replacement. You could justify doing it a few different ways.
One reason I prepare customers to pay for O2s is if they freeze in the pipes and cannot be reused. This happens after some miles.

I just need the last 8 of the VIN to verify the warranty.
I forget how many posts you need to send a PM but if you can, do it that way.
Otherwise you can email it to ewill3rd (at) lindsaycadillac (dot) com

Incidentally IF the O2's strip or freeze during catalyst replacement they can include it in the warranty because it was required to remove them to service the car.
They would do a "pyramid" to submit the claim to GM and should have no problem getting them paid for.

If there are no O2 sensor codes there is no reason (other than mechanical failure during service) to replace the sensors.

Re: OUCH! Check Engine light reads Catalytic Converter issues...or not????

ewill3rd, my check-engine light just came on yesterday. I have an 04 SRX 8 cyl 2WD and due to company travel won't be able to take it to my local dealer until early April. Would you be able to check your sources if I sent you my VIN? Appreciate all the help and input. I really don't want to get raked at the aforementioned "stealership"

Re: OUCH! Check Engine light reads Catalytic Converter issues...or not????

If your SRX has less than 130k kilometers the cats should be covered under warranty. Get a diagnostic done. There are so many different reasons that the check engine light can come on so better leave it to the experts.

Re: OUCH! Check Engine light reads Catalytic Converter issues...or not????

Thanks. I've got 53k miles so far. Are the O2 sensors also covered? You know, after I sent my initial post, the check engine light went out...then I went to get my tires balanced and rotated and the light came back on!! 2 days later, it's off again!! Once I get back I'll get the diagnostics done.
