Hi Everyone,
I'm highly considering on getting an extended warranty package (GM PP of course) and my preferred coverage package would be "Major Guard - Premium Service Coverage".
1.
I was offered 3yr/36,000 mile package for about $2,800 and I would like to know if that sounds correct or can they do better? Can they offer more than 3,600 miles? Not sure how on far it can be hustled.
2.
If I choose to go with 255/55R18's tires (GoodYears' Response Edge) all around, would it affect anything on the extended warranty (i.e. diff)?
Anything else I should know?
New to the Cadi world! I will post pictures soon!
Thanks,
John |

FYI, we bought our 2004 SRX used and bought the certified used car warranty from the dealer for $1500. The warranty extends the original warranty out to a total of 6 years (2010) and 100,000 whatever comes first. The original warranty on the 04 covered up to 50,000 miles. It is a bumper to bumper warranty and covers even the replacement of light bulbs for the running lights. Doesn't cover broken windshields. The service department says it's a better warranty then the new warranty for new cars. |

Check the links on this site and you will get good price quotes. You can buy from any GM dealer and I think you will do better than the price you mentioned. |

You won't find a better deal and ther's no sales tax (unless you're in PA)
check them out.
Re your 1st question, Yes it's way overpriced (unless it's $0 deductible). I just purchased Major guard Gmpp 3 yr/45K miles for just under $2000 ($200 deductible).
good luck |

Used it once already at my dealer without any problems. |

However, if you can find a dealer to certify your vehicle, that is the way to go. I tried but couldn't find anyone, unlike TMILES2246. If you can't get it certified, I would recommend getting a lower deductible than my $200. I got it as insurance against the expensive items like MRC, Ultraview, DVD Nav, and used the logic that if I had something small I would wait and take it into the dealer for a bunch of stuff to cover the deductible. I haven't had any problems since I bought the car, much less the extended warranty, but I used to take it in for a the squeaky, sticky ultraview, which I now have to lube myself with silcone spray. If I had the $0 deductible, I would much rather take it to the dealer and have them do it. And now everytime something acts weird I wonder if I am going to have a problem for a while until something else breaks. I seem to have the opposite problem a lot of people have, and that is I don't have any problems with my SRX. |

You saved some $$ compared to 0 deductible and you didn't have to pay the deductible even once, since you don't have any problems.
A third point that I want to make is that the squeeks, ratlles, ultraview lubrication etc WOULD BE EXCLUDED FROM GMPP PLAN ANYWAY.
So IMHO you made a good purchase.
you need to remember that a 'certfied' car has essentially the same coverage as original warranty. An 'extended warranty' unfortunately has some exclusions.

I think that if the engine that powers the roof or any other mechanism broke, it would be covered. However, if it started rattling, creaking etc... the GMPP booklet would excludes these as 'wind noise' so IMO the repair would not be covered. It's worth checking wit the dealer since I may be wrong. |

The best one, on the last page of covered items, lists ultraview. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
