Blinker replacement, worst design in history?

My father recently had a front blinker go out, before i got to fixing it, the other went.
What a nightmare for what should take about 2 minutes.
Between getting the jack and all the tools out, took me about an hour to do the two sides.
That's ridiculous, i almost feel like it's a scam so less skilled people have to pay the dealer to replace them.

Re: Blinker replacement, worst design in history?

depending on how flexible you are, you could actually do the job in about 20 mins. pretty simple actually, just turn the wheel to the right and take off the inner fender on the passenger side and you have simple access to the lights, then vice versa for the other side. but i have to agree with you. it does such. cadillac should go more for the access of honda, same with their stupid suspension... now i have to go pay to get my springs installed... wtf

Re: Blinker replacement, worst design in history?

It seems that from the comments in all of the forums, all of the 1st generation vehicles on the Sigma platform have terrible design for maintainability regarding all of the front lighting. I don't know about the new CTS, though.

That's pretty much what i did.
But the rear plate is held on by 6 torx screws, 2 on the P side are hard to get to, and 3 on the D side were tough because the stupid intake tube blocks one of them.
Found that the intake tube pops off, even though i thought i broke it, and putting it back on wasn't all that easy either.
Then you have the fact that half of those pop anchors either don't want to go back in or if they do, they aren't tight anymore.

If it were a 1/4 nut holding them on, it would of been much easier than a torx.
